30-06 vs 308 question

30-06 fires a heavier bullet at a higher velocity...

308 fires a lighter bullet at slower velocity......

so if a 308 is more accurate than a 30-06 does that mean a 22lr is more accurate than a 50bmg????

they are different calibers in the same high quality gun barrels and actions....

My experience is that my 30-06 has no problem nailing clay pidgeons at 200+ yards and neither does my friends 308.....and we also have shot 600yds with same results

we both know our guns and i also know that the faster heavier bullet at the same range will generally cause more damage

so accuracy seems more up to you than some other factors when considering vary'ing calibers of such close power....

i think 308 is only more popular due to the military's view of being able to carry more ammo with less weight

Give me a break.
- Twist is twist
- Velocity is velocity
- RPM is RPM

The bullet exiting the barrel hasn't got a clue what the receiver was as long as those criteria are in a reasonable band.

But how`bout some nice 4895, deliberately matching M118 velocities used in AF?

^^^ Yes, with random rifles, please. :)

You just won't give up, even in the face of facts right before your eyes. Kind of like a hungry dog on a pork chop.

I think I've now got this discussion calibrated.
Next thing someone will tell me is that 30-06 Garand "shoots harder" (and is more lethal) than the M14.

HKGuns... Like I wrote before... that's ONE example with 1:11 twist while most .308 Win rifles are 1:12. I'll not GIVE UP until you do. LOL!!

Is that meant to imply that ignorant bullets don't have to follow the laws of physics? What about educated bullets?
