3" S&W's

Don't forget the limited production CS-1 for the Customs Service. That was a nice carry pc. it seems. I'd like to pick one of those up. EricO

A PC-13, M65, nickel M13, M547, and butchered M&P Victory Model. A 5" M27, the flagship of the fleet.

I have Models 317, 337, 36 and 650, all with 3 inch barrels - also a Model 51 with a 3.5 inch barrel. The Model 36 and 650 have the heavy barrel and they are real favorites.

Here is a pic of the S&W 36-1 I just got today. I am looking for some new wood grips. It is a Square butt.

3" Model 360SC, the aluminum and titanium .357. 12 oz. carry gun.
I also have a 3" Ruger 101 that I keep as my house gun.

Jordan,

FWIW, I had the same thought about mine, until I remembered how accurate my 640-1 is with what looks like the same kind of sight picture. I can't believe how good they shoot with that setup, but I sure do like it.

Best.

In the last month and a half I've bought a 3" model 60-15 .357 magnum and a 3" 36-1. They carry just as easily in my SmartCarry "security model" (dual-pouch) as do the 2"-ers (perhaps better, since they don't slide in too far), and they balance better and hit harder.

Lovely little guns. :)

Hmmm... 3" guns... I have a PC13, a 640, a 36-1 and a 629-1 all in the 3" category...

That's so cute! A year and a half ago I had four 3" Smiths, and now I have fifteen. It is a good barrel length! :D

I just bought a 3" Model 65, so I'm in the club. I have a case of new-gun-loving-it.

For those interested, this gunshop just got a load of them in a police trade-in:

www.bhgunrack.com

All of them were in very good condition and priced around $300.00.

My F-Comp - basically a 3" ported 66 tuned and customized by the Performance Center...

My only 3" is my favorite of all my guns, my 66-6 hi-viz. I'd love to get a 686, 65, or another 66 in 3", buy they never show up locally and I never seem to be quick enough to catch them online. Here she is in all of her "outfits."

I don't have any 3"ers, but I very much want a 3" RB 66. I wouldn't turn down a good deal on a 3" 13 or 65 though.

I found a NIB 3" 66 RB at a great price, but it had the internal lock on it, and I am just not going to buy one of those.

The grips are my mutilation of a pair of Ajax or Badger grips. When I got them they were smooth and shiney, they now have a little roughness and are dull. But they fit my hand like a glove. I took to them with a file to get a slimmer profile and a better fit to my hand, then I sanded it to comfort.

Hello. I recently picked up this little thing like new for the right price.

This Model 64 is "only" a .38, but I feel pretty confident with it. The sights are "on" for me and the thing groups plenty well enough for my needs.

This slow-fire group was fired standing, two-hand hold, at ten yards single-action. I was mainly checking POA vs POI. The load was Remington 158-gr. SWCHP +P. It's "on" as far as I'm concerned.

Also fired at ten yards, but double-action, this target was shot with Federal American Eagle 130-gr. FMJ.

I am constantly amazed at how easy the 3" K's are to shoot and shoot well.
This one's a favorite. The DA is very smooth. With the Remington load mentioned previously, the average velocity is 883 ft/sec.

The only other 3" S&W I own is my wife's. It's a 3" LadySmith. It's loaded with the same Remington load as my Model 64.

Other than those two, I hit all around the 3" mark with a 2 1/2" Model 19 and a 3 1/2" Model 27.

With this old Safariland holster, this little dumpling conceals easily enough and makes a pretty nice carry package...at least for me.

Best to all.
