3 day wait... (Florida)

hahah damn man. $7-$10 a pack is pretty wild. That 3.55 was just an avrage over the last 16 years. They were about $1.25 when I started. The last pack I bought was running $5.25 to $5.75

And it is pretty wild that I can get a shotgun or rifle and take it home that day...but a handgun has to wait lol. Madness I tell you. But its ok thought. I'm glad that I don't have to get a permit or anything for those.

"I would hate to live in PBC. Nice clubs and beaches...but no place to for a gun enthusiast."

that's why we have okeechobee a few miles west :D

If it was determined to mean, as the statute is worded, that 72 hours must elapse between the actual purchase and pickup, then you could theoretically get a court order and make a dealer give you the gun after the "three day" (72 hour) period had elapsed.

Our discussions with the BATF concluded that it was 72 hours. Problem is the difficulty proving we waited to the appropriate hour of a day if we went by hours. This could lead to trouble if a gun is misused and the fuzz is looking for a scapegoat.

I know a dealer who was arrested and charged after a customer used the gun he sold to kill several people. This dealer simply forgot to make a copy of proof of residency. Charges were eventually dropped after 50 thousand in legal fees and loss of a lucrative business. LE needed a scapegoat because they allowed this scumbag to get an approval on his background check despite not being eligible due to prior record. This was a clerical error on LE's part.

Because of this and other dealing with government we choose to be extra cautious. If a customer argues the extra time we simply refund their money. it really stinks but it definitely isn't worth the worry.

I can't argue the principal, I understand why the waiting period is there. My problem was my lack of understanding of how it worked. Thats on me, not the system. Thats a shame about your buddy.

And if I'm honest, I've been more scared in Okeechobee than in Palm Beach lol.

For your information it is indeed 72hours according to BATF compliance division.

Call today you may hear different LOL. Oh how efficient is our government:D.

First let me state that I do not agree with any sort of waiting period for delivery after purchase of a gun.

I can, however, sorta see the logic of a "cooling off" period, though I don't agree with it. I can see how this might apply to a first gun purchase, but why should one be made to wait for delivery when they already have a firearm at home? Makes no sense whatsoever.

The cool off period logical? Maybe if handguns were the only way to kill someone you are mad at. I prefer using a knife so that they suffer a bit more LOL.

Billy ferry used a pail of gas and a zippo to kill 4 innocents so soon we will have to cool off for gas if this logic is followed.

The charges were never dropped. The dealer stood trial before Federal Judge Susan Bucklew and was aquitted after two agonizing days. All over LE trying to divert attention from their own deficiencies.
Some of those "public servants" will throw you under the bus to try to save their own hides.

Get that concealed weapons permit- you'll never regret it and if the numbers in Florida stay high the Politicians will be afraid to limit it. As I understand FL law you can keep a gun in a car glove compartment or any place it is "secured" but why risk it? With a Concealed Weapons Permit you are good to go. Well worth it.

As long as its 'encased'. The guy that taught the CCW class said that could be anything from a gun safe to a zip lock baggie. I have a nice softsided zip up bag, in side of my black~n~decker (range) bag.

Most gun shows north of Palm Beach are open to everyone, private collectors can rent tables and sell. I quit going to P.B. gunshows long ago because of that. Whats the sense of going to a gunshow to buy from a gunshop?
