l can't find a subject forum for ammo, so am asking the quetion here. Has anyone else had problernes with this ammo? I had three ftf in two different revoilvers yesterday. Also had at least 4 split cases oiut of about 75 rounds fired -- split just ahead of the rim as well as split lengthwise. Showed them to ther RO, and he was as mystified as I was. His first questsion was was I using 22 mag chambers, and when assured that I was using correct chambers he had no answer. His implication was that others have also had problems, too. Has anyone else got stories to share?

Hmmm...I'll shoot Thunderbolts when I can get them...have a few boxes along with other cheap ammo for .22 plinking.

Thunderbolt's kind of dirty and I get a few rounds that don't go bang, some even after several attempts to fire 'em but nothing like the problems you're having with split cases.

Maybe quality control really is going down hill because of the .22 shortage. I'd contact Remington with your problems.

Thunderbolt generally has a reputation for being dud-prone. That said, I haven't found it to be significantly worse than other brands. In a recent session trying three brands of ammo through a rifle to see which it likes best, out of three full boxes of ammo I had three duds -- and they weren't from the Thunderbolt, they were all from one of the other brands.

Kind of dirty, not very accurate, lots of duds has been my experience. Never had a split case from the box I tried, but I wont buy any more of it.

In my testing of 22 LR ammo the Thunderbolts were the worst. Velocity varied wildly from round to round (as much as 100 FPS variation) meaning poor accuracy. I gave away what remained in my inventory after testing.

Not known as "Thunderduds" for nothing. If you must buy Remington bulk, their Golden bullets seem to be a little better.

Other than the fact that I can use the lead to actually write with its so soft, neither mine nor the wife's pistols have any problem with it. They are excellent for plinking.

We have duds but I find they will often fire if they are struck a second time.

I am no fan of Thunderbolts, but I have had to become less picky to keep shooting .22LR.

Duds don't surprise me, but the split casings sound worrisome and unusual even for Thunderbolts. If you didn't use them up I would consider shelving them and contacting Remington.

Here I am, back in the minority again!

Any case that ruptures should be referred to the maker.

Aside from that I have no issues with thunderbolts although many do. They're dirty, but I clean anyway. My rifle actually shoots better with them than many premium brands so I use them.

Possible dropping QC as mine aren't new production runs.

I would not take any Thunderbolt ammo...even if it was given to me for free. The Golden bullet is a step-up, but the bullets seem to be seated loosely --- with resulting leakage of gun powder.

Agree the stuff is junk, as are Remington goldies. Even with the current 'shortage' of .22 on the shelf, I won't try any Remington ammo.

To move back slightly to topic. I've read in multiple places, this ammo is bad or that ammo is bad.

What ammo - that isn't priced out of this world for a .22LR rimfire is good?

Mine have no problems with Remmy thunderbolts, golden bullets, federal Champion, and CCI standard velocity. Winchesters and Federal automatch are generally unshootable in mine (Brownings). What else?
