1st gun: 9mm G19 or CZ75B??

I'll prolly end up getting the CZ compact...

I think since CCW was not your big concern you are better off with the full sized model (instead of the compact). Either way, you can't go wrong with a CZ 75. ;)

Get the full size CZ first. Guns will multiply when left alone in the dark, so you will wind up with the compact model soon enough.;)

CZ only because it fits you so well. Normally, I'd recommend the GLOCK, but sometimes you can't let your bias toward a particular brand get in the way.

My first 'good' semi-auto was the CZ75B in 9mm. It's still the weapon that I shoot best. It offers you either single or double action, cocked and locked option, a long enough sight radius that you can look like you know what you're doing quickly, and a sweet single action trigger pull.

Glock's okay, but CZ is better for beginners...

If the CZ fits your hand get the CZ. Or for that matter get a 9mm and a .40 CZ for what the Glock and a spare mag or 2 would cost. I bet if cops would have to pay for there mags you would see less issue Glocks.

Go with Glock. It's so much more reassuring to have a name like that behind you. I really don't think you can get a more rugged or reliable pistol for your money. Just spend the extra $ and get the Glock.

Huh? CZ is a very old, very well-respected firearms company. Glock is, well, not.

CZ is more economical, yet just as reliable, accurate and rugged as the Glock. 15rd mags are plentiful and reasonably priced. For a home defense, plinking, and informal competiton pistol it's hard to beat. The Glock 19 has the edge in concealability and accessory/replacement parts availability at this time. Things like holsters, night sights and grips are available but only a select few companies offer them for the CZ at this time. For a dedicated concealment pistol the Glock 19 would be the better choice for that role. Either pistol would be a good choice for your first gun IMO (I own both), so go with what fits your hand the best. Rent both to see which one you shoot best and you feel will fill the role you intend to use it for.

I own both pistols, and would be hard pressed to decide between the two. In my experiences the CZ is more accurate, not saying the Glock is lacking, just I think the CZ is more precise ofr lack of a better word. As for 15rd mags, just picked one up yesterday for my CZ. Factory 15 rounder for $46, Glock 15 rounders are twice that. You will be pleased with either one.

CZ-75B

You really can't go wrong with the CZ or Glock, but the CZ gives you and all steel, old world crafted and accurate pistol at a lower cost. Even if the price were the same, I'd go with the CZ. They are fantastic pistols and if you want something that can be concealed easier than the full size, they have compact models that are just as nice.

TRY THIS THREAD AT GLOCKTALK

See, wasn't that fun? Hardly any acrimony or disrespect (well, except for that one unfortunate incident) and plenty of OWNERS offering opinions.

(My choice - full-size metal.)

I've got the solution to your problem

What's the solution? Easy. Buy the CZ75 (you know you want it) and then buy a few tickets for the CCGOP gun raffle (see the link in my signature line below) and win a brand new G19 with three magazines.

Sorry for the shameless plug but I've got to advertise this thing. None of the Atlanta liberals have given us any free press by protesting and sales are way off.

Arrgh !! Tough choice here....the call has to go to the Glock 19. Simplicity, reliabbility and accuracy in one package.

Well, I have accumulated 6 Glocks over the past couple of years and 4 CZs over the past 4 months. I love both brands.

The nod definitely goes to a full sized CZ due to ergonomics, accuracy, and trigger. I would be inclined to suggest the CZ75B SA single action as your first pistol.

You live in the PRK so I assume you won't be carrying concealed.
