1st gun: 9mm G19 or CZ75B??

Sorry, I'm a first time poster newbie here. I've been doing some research, and I suppose someone may have asked before, but I'm about to purchase either of the two above. The CZ TOTALLY fits my hand better... I've got an average sized hand for a 5'10" asian guy, but they're not very meaty.... so I've found that all the guns I've tried holding didn't fit too well with the exception of the CZ... which was a dream to hold.... it was kinda heavy... which is why I'm considering the G19...that and SD weather....

So for the sake of my first gun.. should it be the G19 or the CZ? Things important to me: fits well, shoots accurate, survives weather, and reliable as hell.. i suppose this applies to both, but maybe some people can give me some insight on this?

Thanks.

Having owned both, i would say as a first choice to get the grock.
reason being it is very simple to operate and has a single trigger pull(i dont recomend c&c carry on the cz because its too easy to miss the safety in a stress situation.).
but if you wanna divide it up here ya go:

reliability: glock
if you wanna weapon you can take into any situation the glock is deffinately the best choice. you can abuse the hell out of them.
the cz is damn reliable too but as a combat(military) side arm id give the nod to the glock for ease of maintainance. In your situation the cz should have NO trouble, its very reliable. just perhaps less so in all different situations.
accuarcy: cz
tighter lockup, better barrel, longer sight radius. the damn barrel resembles a match grade 1911 barrel!
egonomics/ ease of function:
this of course is very user dependant. me im a short guy so the 19 fits almost perfectly in my hand and i can reach the trigger easy. also i have to admit although im getting used to da/sa trigger pulls(aspecially in part due to 1/4 cocking da/sa weapons) its very much easier to learn one trigger pull than two.
also for clearing drills(and in case of malfunction in combat) do a stovepipe clearing. see which is easier. probably the glock because there is much more slide to grasp.

the cz is a more refined pistol. isnt that a kick? cheaper but more refined! youd do great with either.
ergonomics are very important. if you think the cz feels better and you handle it better, then its probably a better choice for ya.
and remember if you run out of rounds, grab the e-tool and k-bar and youre all set! :D

Since you don't list concealment as a criteria and the CZ fits your hand better, I would recommend the the CZ. It is quite reliable, especially with ball ammo. The Glock might get the edge with some hollow points. As far as accuracy my CZ is one of the most accurate 9mm's I have being surpassed only by a P210 and Browning GP Comp and equal to a Steyr GB.

FACTS OPINIONS THOUGHTS SUGGESTIONS

1) The CZ75 is a fully-proven combat arm with a longer history of service than the Glock (Glock M17, not M19).

2) The CZ75 fits your hand (same reason I own three EAA Witness frames--CZ75 clones--they fit my hand).

3) The CZ series are reliable, accurate, dependable, and easily customized.

4) Plenty of CZ75 hi-capacity magazines are still available and affordable.

5) As one who believes feel is critical, suggest higher owner satisfaction with the gun that feels best.

Recommend CZ75 in 9x19, with its superb cocked-and-locked or DA start.

I'll second WESHOOT on each of his points. Glocks are great handguns, but CZ's are impossible to beat for the $$, and the fit to your hand is probably THE most important factor in making a choice among two reliable handguns. If it doesn't fit, you won't shoot it to your potential, you won't like practicing and it won't help your confidence. Consider the CZ75 D PCR Compact if you want to lighten things up a bit. It has an alloy frame and a decocker. The regular CZ75 Compact is steel framed with the same set of controls as the full-size. The polymer finish is very durable, BTW.

You've already answered your own question:

"...so I've found that all the guns I've tried holding didn't fit too well with the exception of the CZ... which was a dream to hold..."

Kebs...I like them both, you have two good choices, so no advice here (Although I bought the Glock 27 first and then picked up the CZ later!).
If your in SD and you have not shot them, I would mosey up to the Public Shooting Academy in Oceanside - they rent both of the aforementioned weapons, so you can shoot them both and then make your mind up. If you want to go on a weekend, I'll go with you...just Email me (I live in C'Bad)

I own 2 CZ 75B's: one in 9mm and the other in .40 caliber. Both are very accurate, with the edge going to the .40.

I've had both the Glock 17 (Just like the 19, but a bit larger) and the CZ-75B.

I think the Glock is the more-idiot-proof gun, but I much prefer the CZ-75B. Mine cyclesd faster, was more accurate, and could be carried either "cocked and locked" or loaded with hammer down.

Arguably just as safe as (or even safer than) the Glock.

But if you've not shot much, the Glock will be easier to shoot well at FIRST, with essentially ONE trigger stroke whether you're firing your first or subsequent shot. And its certainly easier to clean and maintain. (But not by much.)

You can't go wrong, either way.

It really depends on your intended purpose for the gun. If this is to be a carry gun, buy the Glock. If this is to be a range/competition gun, buy the CZ. You really cannot go wrong with either purchase. Good luck!

Frank

CZ 75B

A lot more refined that the Glock (at a lower price)! Much better accuracy, trigger pull (if you go cocked and locked), and better balance. Both are great pistols, but I would choose the CZ first everytime. ;)

Cindy Margolis or the fugly girl next door.

Get the Glock or you'll regret it.

But you'll love it.

If money's tight, HS2000.

CZ's are nice if you're impatient and don't want to save up for the real deal.

But da honies likes da Glocks and so do da POLICE.

And where is that CZ enthusiasts' website?

Pleazzzzzz.

Next question?

I've owned lots of Glocks (have a 20C) and consider myself a fan. But damn, those CZ pistols are SLICK. Certainly the CZ has better ergonomics than just about ANYTHING under the sun. It is, in fact, a proven and reliable COMBAT sidearm and not some flash-in-the-pan as has been implied. In terms of bang-for-buck it is almost certainly unsurpassed. And the triggers are OUTSTANDING. Nice and smooth unlike, say, a Glock. I think 15 rounders are alot cheaper for the CZ too. Man, but the compact (19/23/32) Glocks are NICE... but the CZ PCR is darn cool too... oh, hell I've got no idea. :D

They are two of the best 9mm around...

And I have one of each :) !!
G19: lighter, rust proof (tenifer) finish, more compact. Very easy to completely detail strip. Funny trigger gets some time to get used to.
CZ75: better grip and trigger, a bit better accuracy. Larger and heavier, difficult to detail strip (but you don't really need to do so).
Both are very solid, very reliable, and very well made.
I like the clever and simple design of the Glock, but I prefer shooting the CZ75.

Wow thanks for all the replies.

Eric: I might just take you up on your offer sometime, i'll email you when i can....

I'll prolly end up getting the CZ compact...

I guess ergo's for me
