On the positive side, when these guys start dropping off in ten or twenty years, there's going to be a positive glut of used ammo on the market.

Fortunately around here, we don't have a lot of hoarding. There isn't 1 caliber that can't be found here. Including 380auto.

That's probably due to the fact that there are only a couple-thousand people living in Wyoming!!:D

I cannot believe your local Wal-mart is allowing the guy to do that, up here in Ohio, most Wal-marts that I have visited all have rules now on how much purchase you can make during one visit.

I hope the guy get into troubles for buying that many rounds in one setting:D
(Go go big brothers!) ..but if he's a dealer...nothing we can do about it.

"Isn't 15 x 100 1500?"

I don't think we are talking about the guy buying 15 boxes of 100 rounds each. We are talking about 1,000 round cases.

The Walmart here now has a rule (effective a few days ago) you may only buy a quantity 6 of ammo each day, period. I think they mean boxes not cases too... :(

For that amount of money you could have bought a reloading press and a bunch of components.

Good luck finding primers! I've been lucky but most guys are having a hard time finding them and the prices have gone up from $25-30 /1000 to $60-100/1000. I paid $50 for 1000 small pistol primers last weekend and felt lucky (but my butt did hurt!).

When I looked on Gunbroker and saw all the boxes of WWB being sold, that told me why Wal-Mart (and others) never has any ammo. I'm all for someone making a living, but this is just greed. Personally, I hope they wind up sitting on all that ammo and wind up loosing their arse on it. :barf:

I bet that guy was already sitting on a nice stash of ammo too. Idiots.

At least there's not much of a craze on the calibers I buy.

In my local walmart I have yet to see 9mm, .40 and .45acp and countless other calibers since January. I look every time im in there (once a week).

Im not sure if there getting anything in or people are just buying it so fast?

I bet the anger came more from having to tuck tail and go home for cash than about the ammo the other guy was buying.

"So that my friends, it's people like that is the reason, you can't find ammo.

And, one other note, if I could have bought as many case's as I wanted, I would have bought three ($645), instead of two ($430)."

so its only ok for you to buy thousands of rounds of ammo from walmart but not ok for others? i fail to see the difference between the 2 of you. i have read accounts of people trying to buy a box or 2 of ammo but unfortunatly the guy in front of them buys everything they can and screws them out of it. most walmarts are now placing a limit on how much ammo you can buy and i say god bless them for keeping hoarders from taking everything and driving up prices.

btw, are you one of those people that would post they would never be caught dead in a walmart? i'm guessing that would be a big 10-4 too.

I'm afraid factory ammo won't be getting cheaper any time soon. I won't pay the gougers prices but it is not unusual for me to to make several trips to several different WalMarts each week. I have all the SD ammo I need for each gun I own. Plinking ammo is another story, so I'm always on the lookout for it. When I find it, I buy it.

Some have accused me of hoarding, okay. I can deal with that. But I shoot a lot, and I buy in bulk. But when they have 15 case's, I'm no fool, it's going to be gone anyway. I just speeded it up by 5 minutes, and now I can go shooting again. Happy day's are here again!!

I've been buying cases for years. So judge me, I don't care. If I could have bought all 15 case's, I still would have bought 2-3.

And yes, I did have to tuck tail and go home to get some cash. Do to an overly cautious credit card company that watch's out for me.

If you read my post, I stated that I was "Grocery shopping" That's a big 10-4 Good buddy!!

I'm not greedy, I'm not needy, I just like to go to the range and shoot, way,..... before this "THING" ever started.

Skol!

I think there are a lot of people with some VERY different views on what constitutes hoarding.

Is two cases hoarding for someone who shoots regularly?

I'd have to say no.

Would, however, two cases be hoarding for someone who does NOT shoot regularly, and who simply is going to put the ammo back "just in case"?

Yes, to me, that's the classic definition of hoarding.

Simply put, it appears that for some people out there anything over 100 rounds of ammo brings sparks instant cries of hoarding, while others don't see any issue with people grabbing everything they can as quickly as they can simply because we're in some very weird times.

I think, however, that some of you all need to get off your "high hoarding horses" and really THINK about what you're accusing people of before you start doing the "Invasion of the Ammo Snatchers" screech routine.

It's annoying, and it's downright rude.

I can't wait until all these guys have investment 9mm that isn't worth a thing b/c we are out of Iraq and Afghanistan and FTF transactions of ammunition are illegal.
