10mm is DEAD!!!

I recently got it in my head that I "needed" a 10mm. Not wanting to spend a lot on a toy, I began searching for an EAA Witness full size. Impossible to find! While calling every gunshop in the surrounding counties, I noticed a disturbing trend. Everyone I talked to pronounced the 10mm dead, didn't stock it, didn't want to talk about it. It doesn't seem like this caliber will ever make a come back.
For those of you that are interested, EAA states that there is a shipment of 10mm coming into the US in two weeks. Have your dealer contact RSR if you are interested in obtaining one.

I sure have a hard time believing that for a caliber that you proclaim to be dead my local shop can't keep 10mm (guns or ammo) in stock. Moves pretty fast for dead.

Well, I feel just a bit frisky tonight so I'll just say the Witness 10mm didn't work for me and I wouldn't be participating in the Witness purchasing program anytime soon.
I like the calibre but the choices are crappy. When they build a Ruger, CZ, or Sig-Sauer ten mike mike my ears will perk up. Until then the calibre is a big snozeramma. Love, kisses, J. Parker

My Glock 20 has been great. I've only put 1,000 rounds through it so far, but not one single malfunction. Too bad that Witness didn't work out for you.

Hmmmmmm...........

Want 10mm Witness; let's just say my M20 didn't work out for me.

Not dead, just not for everyone. More alive than expected.

most definitely a reloaders cartridge but hardly dead, in the last two weeks I've purchased a new pistol and a case of ammo in this wonderfully versatile caliber, great fun

The 10mm is to the semi-auto community as the .41Magnum is to the revolver community. Great idea, just did not seem to catch on. I had a 10mm Colt stainless Delta Elite, accuracy was ok, but the factory barrel had the typically generous tolerances in fit that plague 1911's. The advent of .45ACP +P seemed to strike a death blow to the 10mm. Same energy, but with so many .45ACP guns in circulation, why bother buying another gun? The 10mm seems to have only a few advantages, those being bullets in 135 and 150-155grains and higher velocities when reloading, since reloading 45ACP into the +P range can be dangerous.

So, ummm...

...is this the 10mm you were talking about, or some other 10mm?

All that ammo (and much more, actually), except the box of Triton Quik-Shok, was bought new off the shelves of local gun shops in the last six months. I know for sure where there's a new-in-box G20 and G29, and I believe I know where there's a 10mm Witness.

10mm dead... Right, sure; so are .41 Mag and .38 Super, except that 10mm consistantly makes SAAMI's list of ten-best-selling handgun cartridges. :p

blades67, I think the same as you. I watch gunbroker and auctionarms quite abit. Nearly every ten that goes up for sale is subject to multiple biddings. I don't know why gunshops in my area haven't picked up on this.
As for the Glock, yes it's durable but it's so BIG! All I really want is a single stack 10mm. Just don't want to pay big bucks for a custom job, or dump money into a Delta making it what I want. There was a thread about a 10mm HK during which someone alluded to a 10mm Kimber. This seems to be an urban legend though.

Tamara...

Is that big shiny revolver the one you slid down the road on when you were T-boned by the car? If so, it looks pretty good! (Also OUCH!)

THE 10MM AUTO IS DEAD...OH REALLY...

THEN TELL ME WHY CORBON'S 10MM AMMUNITION SALES HAVE INCREASED EVERY YEAR SINCE 1997...
TELL ME WHY GLOCK CAN'T KEEP 10MM PISTOLS IN STOCK...
TELL ME WHY 10MM TECH CALLS TAKE UP SO MUCH OF MY TIME HERE...
TELL ME WHY I SPENT THE MONEY TO HAVE HAMILTON BOWEN BUILD A CUSTOM SINGLE ACTION SIXGUN ON AN OLD 3-SCREW 357 RUGER...
TELL ME WHY THE 10MM ISN'T THE FINEST CARTRIDGE DESIGN OF THE PAST 30 YEARS...
'CAUSE IT FOR DAMN SURE IS THAT INDEED, AND MORE...
AHHH, BUT WHAT DO I KNOW...???

Terry Murbach, what do you know?

Well, netiquette is one thing you do not. The all caps posts you use are highly annoying and are considered bad manners.

But, it makes it easy to put you on the ignore list.

"Everyone I talked to pronounced the 10mm dead, didn't stock it, didn't want to talk about it."

Looks like everyone you talked to are moronic jackasses who spew sh** every time they open their mouths.

10mm isn't dead. While it certainly isn't the most lively round around, it's got its niche following, and is doing well for itself.

So well, in fact, that it sucked me into its vortex a few months ago when I purchased a Witness.

GREAT gun. Great fun.

I believe that Terry is inputting all data in caps at the plant all day, and it's easy to forget they're on. Be nice, now. :)

I always appreciate Murbach's posts, even if they are in all caps.

'Twould be easier to read in upper/lower.
