Zarqawi Dead In Bombing Raid !!!

S.O.B. got exactly what he deserved.

Hopefully lots more of his ilk will soon be joining him.

Murdering scum - burn in hell....:)

12-34hom.

Only one way this could be better -

And that's with a "double dip" with Bin Laden's mangled and dead puss on the front page.

Awoke this morning to the leadoff story that this murderous vermin had finally been eradicated. One down, many to go.

Nice airshow by the Air Force and Company - enjoy the viewing: http://home.mpowercom.net/~jhollenbeck/zarqawi/ZarqawiAirstrike_wmv.zip

Great work, our military guys and gals - post a few more pics of more dead terroristic vermin in the coming weeks and it'll be a great summer!:D

"Great summer"? Doubt it.
We took out some trash yesterday but it won't amount to squat in the "War on Terra" and it won't help the situation in Iraq.

I will have to disagree with you, GoSlash.

Taking out Al-Zarqawi is a big deal. It will set back the operations of Al-Qaeda in Iraq. Yes, there will be reprisals. That is to be expected. But there will be a vacuum in the terrorists leadership. Even if only briefly. It will embolden the Iraqis themselves and HUMINT will be forthcoming, as the Iraqis will have less fear than before.

It is simply disingenuous to spin this as a setback in the war.

Antipitas,
There is no vacuum in the terrorist leadership and A.Q. was never a big player in Iraq to begin with.
Zarqaui was replaced before his body cooled. This is the nature of terrorist cells.
It's not about reprisals. We all understand that this is how they play the game. But taking out terrorist leaders is not a strategy for successful war against terrorism. It's part of it, but only part.
Watch what happens in Iraq this summer, then get back to me on this. We'll see if you've changed your mind.

Let's not go down the Muslim-bashing road. It will only get the thread shut down.

I just can't believe how many media outlets are downplaying the significance of this. While GoSlash27 is correct in saying that Zarqawi's position will be filled by another Al Queda member, the killing of a man responsible for so much misery does have significance.

It's like saying, after the Nuremberg trials, "yeah, but you didn't get Hitler."

The next guy in line will go down too. Its never been a bad thing, to kill your enemies. So far as 'muslim bashing' goes, if our enemies are muslims, well..............

Monkeyleg,
It's not just the media that's downplaying this, it's everybody. Why? Because it's not really that big a deal. Yes we got a bad guy off the planet and that's a good thing but it's not a turning point.

Mannlicher,
That mentality is exactly what's costing us the war. Killing and capturing baddies is part of the equation, but it's only part. The bigger battle of counter-insurgency is 'hearts and minds'.
Defeating terrorism demands that you alienate the terrorist from his support base as an extremist while aligning them with your efforts. That's kinda hard to do while lumping them all in with the enemy.
The idea "muslims...terrorists...what's the difference?" is a recipe for disaster. We learned that last time around when the mentality was "Vietnamese...VC...what's the difference?"

We keeping killing these guys by the bushel, yet they keep coming. We can take out 100 Al-Zarqawis and still not win this war. The war will be won when the American soldiers are back at base watching an Iraqi F-16 and Iraqi troops taking the battle to the enemy. When the Iraqi people step up 100% and take the bull by the horns without help from us then we can breathe a sigh of relief.
