You're gonna laugh... mixed some powder.

I've been doing this lately. Dump powder when starting, leave bottle in place, refill bottle when I'm done. Can't remember when or why I started, but there's no way I'm gonna mix up my powders...

I just did this last week with BLC-2 and Varget (see a few threads back "powder problem"). First time I have EVER done this. I still have not thrown it in the garden, as I'm looking at the can trying to decide whether or not I want to venture off into the task of trying to separate it. BLC-2 is fine ball and Varget is stick so I think it COULD be done, just not totally convinced it I should be the one trying it. Post what you decide to do. Maybe I will follow the "mob mentality" if you try it and your gun still works after..........

Sat down last night and did some experimenting with vibration and shaking on various surfaces.

I have noticed that the H335 (small flake) is so light that it "sticks" to just about everything. The Benchmark (stick) is larger and heavier and tumbles or rolls pretty easy.

In 2 hours I think I managed to separate about 40gr's of Benchmark out of the mix. 6960 grains to go.

No matter what you do it is impossible to determine or achieve 100% separation.

I put old powder in the potted plants around the house to discourage guests from using them as ashtrays.

With the appropriate sized screen you can easily separate your powders and go on your merry way. The powders are substantially different in size, shape and color I don't see an issue.

I have done the same thing with blc2 and unique and I still have my fingers and eyes. I used one of these

At some point you just gotta admit you made a gross error! :D No big deal, BTDT. If that were the last bottle of powder on earth, mebbe it would be a "project" to save it, but I don't think I'd try...

While not a recommended solution, a small soda straw or drop tube with a funnel could separate the two powders.

I bet 25 grains of that mixture for 55 grain 223 will plink decently.

I really don't think mixing powders of similar burn rates, for the same caliber, with comparable grain ranges, really matters that much. If barely at all. Function wise. Its just not going to be that accurate, because the ES is going to be larger than you are used to due to the inconsistency of one to the other.

its pure luck that bechmark and H335 are almost the same exact burn rate.

I really dont think this is a big deal, I would shoot it. And I would use around 24-25 grains for 55 grain 223 2.255 OAL.

It goes against everything that anyone has ever taught about handloading.

I think you should try it and report back. I would find it interesting.
