Your Ruger SP 101

My SP gets CC carried quite often, is my friend around the house and loaded with shot thins out the Copper Heads when mowing.

My 3" is my first handgun! It was a 21st birthday present to myself. Have had it for two weeks now and get out to shoot it about every other day. I'm planning on it being my everything gun for a few years... I gotta be done buying guns(for awhile). I do love the thing too! I can't believe how manageable .357's are in it! It'll also be the first revolver of mine that I will reload for. Such a cool gun!

Nightstand. Snub, Hogue grip, meprolight front sight. Simple, effective, reliable and doesn't scare my wife if an emergency situation were to arise. Win, Win, and Win.

Mine is kind of just an "extra", but I sure like having it around just in case I want to use it for something. It's a very versatile revolver in 3in.

Just fun to shoot

Mine doesn't get out much, but when it does, it loves the range. The weight and balance of this gun makes it a pleasure to shoot- just had to smooth out the trigger first.

Curios what's the recommended load for the SP101? I'm still searching.
For home defense I use 38 special 125 gr JHP 875 fps. For hiking 357 magnum 158 gr. 1350 fps.

Purpose and accuracy are a major factor in what is best for you. The sp101 will take anything from the hottest to the mildest. Your gun may like some brands/loads better than others. I would try several different loads to see what is best for you. There is no set load that works best in all circumstances. Take it out and find your flavor ;).

SP101 is 1st level night stand, Taurus 85 is 2nd level night stand, Taurus 40 cal. is front door table and Glock26 in the Kitchen!! Wait, I forgot about the loaded AK47 under the bed on the 2nd level! All great fun to shoot in our backyard range.

3" 327 Fed Mag is travel gun for the car. Fits in the glove box of mama's car. May try to get CCW after we retire, and this is the weapon I would carry.

4" 357 will be truck gun and carry gun for hunting and shooting prairie rats. Carry bird shot loads for the wascally wattle snakes. Have only shot about 70 rounds thru it but it has really nice balance and I think it will be my favorite center fire hand gun.
