What combination of weapons would you pick in a combat like situation?

Assumptions: short to intermidiate encounter range, number of hostiles more than 10, and urban setting with possible chase to sub urban area. Landscape is hilly.

Please discuss your reasoning/strategy.

Based off what I currently own, I would say my twelve gauge pump with plenty of shells, and my trusty xd45 with three extra mags. If I were to consider a weapon I do not have, I would think the FN P90. Of course, only is I had hit the range multiple times and was very comfortable with accuracy. Although cumbersome, I would think the shotgun for close quarters, the rifle for possible sub urban or longer ranges, and the pistol in reserve. Alas, my wife will not let me buy an AR. Simply pistols, shotguns and hunting rifles. That being said, were I in that situation I would really miss a rifle in my hands as I try to plunk BGs long range with my pistol. Or perhaps I would load up some 12g slugs. Either way, I still think I would long for an assault rifle.

M4 carbine w/ 3x optics and at least 7 extra mags. Sidearm: Sig P226.

This combo is rather lightweight (because of the hills) but good enough for close to medium ranges as specified. All very excellent in tight quarters.

Firepower, why you don't you go somewhere and take a few tactical/combat courses to learn all this stuff you'll NEVER need in a personal defense situation. You planning on starting your own militia organization or something?

Then I don't see how any of our cocooned responses could possibly help him. He obviously needs advice from professionals.

Then you obviously have a very narrow view of the world and of other people's experiences. If you don't want to share, then why dont you simply move along to another thread?

Something in 6.8, like a Barret M468/REC7 or XCR, a nice backup handgun, plenty of ammo for both. And friends... good, reliable friends.

You want offensive or defensive capabilities here?

Claymores are your friend, at least four of them. Then a Car-15 and Sog knife. 16 twenty round mags.

I do lack the Claymores. Just not available on the market today...LOL

If the chase is on foot my choice would be M-4 with 10 mags. My handgun would be my Glock 23 with only a few mags......(I prefer to have more ammo for the rifle and with weight considerations I would spread heavy toward the rifle).

My reasoning is because with the M-4 I can make very fast followups and the rifle can cover both close quarters and intermediate well. I am assuming that intermediate is 50-150 yards. I can think of no other option that can make hits as fast in both close and intermediate ranges.

Strategy is easy don't get hit and eliminate as many as possible until you get hit. Expect to be hit and prepare to fight injured. Ten plus folks shooting at you leaves you in need of some serious luck to go along with the skill to put lead on target fast and while on the move. Like in football there aren"t many plays for 3rd and 25 you are gonna have to get luck combined with skill to survive.

Things that will help......body armor, keeping as small a target as possible, using cover and concealment whenever possible, mobility..keeping on the move (unless that perfect cover is available and will allow you to get them before they get you) make them hit a moving target, accuracy.......you make your shots count and their aim will suffer, and finally prayer.
