Your marksmanship/knowledge on a 1-10 scale

If you had to rate your physical skills with a handgun on a scale what would you rate yourself?

10 being an "Expert level marksman" (both in accuracy and showmanship)

5 was "Better than average but worse than the serious minded shooter"

1 was "Can't hit the side of a barn"

How would you rate you knowledge of handguns in general on a 1-10 scale...historically wise.

10 being "I am an encyclopedia of historical knowledge"

5 being "I know more than most, but less than many"

1 being "Guns were around before Glock?"

How do you rate you mechanical knowledge and abilities?

10 being "I am a regular gunsmithing god"

5 being "I know my way around the insides of a gun, but some of it is scary"

1 being "Guns have parts?"

I would rate myself a 4-5 marksmanship wise. I am not great, but I am better than a lot of people. My strength lies in close encounter shooting.

I would rate my historical knowledge about a 4. I am not that well versed and there as SOOOO many guns.

I would rate my technical skills about a 7-8. I am very mechanical and I know my way around metal working and sculpting.

marksmanship: 5 (8 with rifle, but I enjoy shooting handguns more...go figure :o)

historical knowledge: 3

technical skills: 8

I'd go 5-4-8.

I've been shooting for a year now. I'm no great shakes, but compared to most of what I see at the range I usually do pretty well.

My knowledge of guns is limited to more recent guns. That whole "historical" clause you threw in there lowers my score quite a bit.

I'm a mechanic by trade with an education and associate's degree in Applied Automotive Science from Wyotech. While I have not yet stripped any of my guns down to the smallest piece, I am not intimidated by their inner workings or complexities. Even if I do get hung up on a piece that seems not to fit I have the intarwebz at my disposal to provide me with diagrams and other references (similar to an automotive technician's ability to reference sources like AllData or the factory electronic service manual).

7- just a little better than average in shooting.

3- historical knowledge.

7- Pretty handy when it comes to anything mechanical.

3, 3, & 3

Can't shoot, don't know what I'm shooting and can't fix it if it breaks. Kinda like everything else I do... learn just enough to be dangerous, declare myself an expert and move on to something else when I'm exposed as a noob poser. :)

Actually, I am a percizion mushining xpurt.... that and a chick magnet. Only two things I really do well. :)
