Your favorite 9mm target gun?

Hey T.O.
You ever hear of a guy by the name of Jerry Miculek?

If not you may want to check him out.

Oh, he shoots 9mm to 1000 yards.

Browning Hi Power is my target 9mm. The mrs. shoots it even better than me. No experience with the Q5 but if its anything like the PPQ it'll be a winner.

Ive got a PPQ 5". Its a great target gun. Very mild recoil, great sight radius, very easy to shoot.
My wife is a new shooter and doesnt have great hand/arm strength (she has some difficulty racking the slide) and even she shoots great with it. Just yesterday we went to the range and she shot about 30 rounds out of it at 15 feet, every shot was in the chest. Id say thats not too bad for someone who had never shot a handgun before.

My current 9 is a Walther PPS M2. Still practicing at the range.

A target gun has to be able to shoot in the 10 ring at 50 yards. Anything will shoot at 15 yards, that's plinking.

Amen, pete2. Shooting slowfire @ the fifty yard line during a Bullseye match will quickly separate the men from the boys when it comes to finding the X in the 10 ring.

There's target shooting and shooting targets. Ain't the same thing.
No 9mm is suitable for target shooting. Primarily due to the total lack of match grade bullets/ammo. Without good ammo, the pistol makes no difference.
For shooting targets, any 9mm will do nicely. Just remember that factory triggers don't matter. All of 'em require work.

BAC1023 probably has one of the nicest collection of guns on this forum from what he has shared. lifesizepotato seems like he has a pretty nice collection as well. I've been eyeing the Pardini GT9 6 inch in silver for a while. I think I may pull the trigger one of these days and get one.

The P210s are incredibly accurate, but I am not crazy about the sights on the original version. I have one of the new "legend" models but have not been able to bring myself to shoot it yet.

I have been shooting my Springfield Armory Loaded 9mm (stainless) a lot lately. While it hardly qualifies as a "target" gun, it is pretty accurate and an absolute joy to shoot out of the 1911 platform. The recoil spring is nice and light due to the lower recoil and the heavy slide makes it very easy to shoot quickly.

Oh you can still tell the men from the boys at 15 yards, the boys will have space between their bullet holes.

I hit a pie plate consistently in the middle at estimated by walking off, 75 ft range with the Hi Power or the S&W 59. Pattern is about the size of a half dollar.
The sights well....the Hi Power shoots low for me, way low. Wife hits dead on with them so I point and shoot
The 59 shoots about 8 inches low but she shoots it about two inches high.
I won't be shooting dimes at a thousand yards though.
If I wasn't so cheap (poor) some adjustable sights might get some good results.

You don't have to have adjustable sights.
Just have His and Hers guns with sights regulated for the user.
Dawson Precision is good and not too expensive.

I suspect you have a nonstandard sight picture or a reproduceable jerk.

I only own 2. A Taurus PT92C and an XD Mod2 4.0, I prefer the Taurus. All the others are nice but I don't own one and you can't shoot what you don't own..

X Ring at 50 yards! I'm lucky to even see it at 50 yds. let alone hit it. Enjoy that you all can still see that well!

And whats your favorite 9mm target shooter?

Stepping outside the usual box, slightly, my favorite 9mm target shooter is a 6" 9mm Luger barreled T/C Contender. Excellent trigger, good sights, can be scoped simply and easily and to date, has been more accurate (admittedly with my handloads) than any other 9mm handgun I've shot or shot against.

:D
