Your favorite 9mm target gun?

I shoot my 226 Blackwater for a target gun, but have been looking at the Q5 Match. Any thoughts on the Q5 Match? And whats your favorite 9mm target shooter?

For target shooting I'd want a 1911 gun of target quality. If you are talking action shooting there are a lot more options as extreme accuracy isn't a requirement.

I have the 5" S&W Performance Center PPC-9. Top end is much like the 952 as posted before me. Bottom end is a double stack, and the bottom looks roughly like a 5906 with the stepped frame, but the trigger is irrationally sublime. Short pull, a lighter trigger than most folks have ever felt with almost zero overtravel. It's a pretty amazing package and it's the most money I have ever thrown at a firearm. Awfully sharp looking pistol.

It's highly capable and I totally love it, but I cannot yet seem to eclipse my ability with my Tanfoglio (EAA) Witness Elite Match. I've had this one longer and for some reason, everything seems to come together when I shoot it.

So it's my Elite Match 9mm that I use as the "bar" that I hope & try to beat with other 9mm handguns.

I've found the Mastershop Sigs and Performance Center S&W's to be the most accurate. I'm talking the older Performance Center autos, not the production junk they put the name on today.

As for my favorite, its hard to say. My buddy and I were bench testing a bunch of high end 9mms last weekend. Surprisingly, my MAB PAP F1 was holding its own against everything else we had there, despite a less than stellar trigger.

I can't say its my favorite, but its definitely one of them. I love its styling too. So cool.

There's target shooting and shooting targets. Ain't the same thing.
No 9mm is suitable for target shooting. Primarily due to the total lack of match grade bullets/ammo. Without good ammo, the pistol makes no difference.
For shooting targets, any 9mm will do nicely. Just remember that factory triggers don't matter. All of 'em require work.

Huh?

Sounds like you need to shoot some nice 9mms. The pistol makes a ton of difference regardless of the ammo and not all factory triggers need work.

I don't think the OP is referring to bullseye shooting.

Mine is a Wilson Combat, 5", all stainless, Protector model...in 9mm..

A sig 226 or a Sig X-Five L-1 model, would be my 2nd choice.

Balderdash.
There are a fair number of 9mms and their ammo that will hold the 50 yard X ring for NRA or PPC shooting.
There are Berettas that will keep up with 1911 NMs in CMP Service Pistol.
I have seen a S&W PPC9 like Sevens' in action, it was plenty accurate and was going on to national level PPC by a Master class competitor.
My Sig P210 is as accurate as any centerfire I own with the possible exception of a VERY tight .45. When I am in tune with the three stage trigger, it is definitely suitable for target shooting.

You do have to put in a bit of money for the gun and care in selection or loading of ammo, but that is true for any caliber and event you want to be truly competitive at.

BS +3
Plenty of 9mms that'll shoot, mine target 9mm is a CZ75 tac sport

bbousa, no experience with the Q5 match, but lots with various P226s. Best by far accuracy wise was the P226 X-5 I used to have. I have several accurate 9MMs, but my favorites for shooting targets would be the Swiss and German SIG P210s. For the very best accuracy in target shooting, I would sure suggest something with single action capability. The Q5 is a striker fired gun isn't it?

Wow T. O'Heir, are you sure about the 9MM? I don't have a Ransom rest, so I don't know what the maximum accuracy potential of some of my 9MM pistols actually is. But I have achieved what I considered to be very good accuracy with 9MMs, shooting carefully from the bench. Others shooting 9MMs have certainly done a lot better than I. Without a doubt, that would include some of our forum members, and those AMU guys with their accurized 9MM Berettas.

If by target gun you mean going to the range and shooting at targets, for me it is my CZ 75B and the Kimber II (Custom or Target, I don't remember) that one of my friends had until his (now ex-) wife made him sell his guns. If you mean competition, I don't do competition, but if I did, I'd get one of the target model CZs or get a CZ 75SA and have Cajun Gun Works work their magic on it, or as high end a 1911 I could afford (unless it was a class of competition where my CZ 75B or a regular 1911 would work).
