What is you favorite 38 Spl snubbie revolver, and what do you carry in it? Hey... feel free to add accessories if you'd like

What do you like most of all about the gun? Least of all?

Mine is a S&W 642 which is currently sporting a pair of Ahrends Coco Bolo boot grips, stoked with Winchester 158 gr LSWC +P, which I normally carry it in my right fromt pants pocket in an Alessi Pocket Holster, or and Uncle Mikes pocket holster. I also use a DeSantis Speed Scabbard when the mood stikes. Been thinking about a Ken Null City Slicker shoulder holster.

The 642 is so light and small, not to mention sooo easy to carry just about anywhere on my person. This is one gun I won't be giving up. She's a shooter! No complaints.

Have an old beat-up M40m Centennial with the grip safety and the flat cylinder release latch. Very slick for pocket carry.

About two years ago I bought a 2" M10. I don't know why. Bought it mainly because I'd never had a M10 snub and it was $150. Even with the short barrel it's not a small gun. But I find myself throwing it in the car more and more often when i just want to have something with me.

snubbies

My first choice would be an old Detective Special, but as I'm in the PRK and take what I can get, I have my 2nd choice. A blue Model 36.

I load it with 124grain Nyclads and it's wraped in a Spegel boot grip.

Smith Model 36s.
Pocket, belly, shoulder, ankle and belt holsters.

Good...smallish for the punch, very accurate and fast.
Bad....5 shot.

442

Smith & Wesson 442.

Like about it: Small, very smooth trigger (at least on mine)

Dislike(ed): For me it was difficult to learn to shoot the 442, but once I did :D

My favorite is a taurus M-85 with the factory grips, great D/A trigger pull. It's accurate with the cor-bon 125gr+P's i keep in it.

642 for this guy, as well. When I carry it I carry it in a Galco pocket holster in my front left pocket. It's got some S&W wood combat grips.
Small, recoil's not too bad, and just a great thing to have around.

My current favorite......

Taurus model 605 in SS .357 magnum, 5 shot capacity. I dumped the longer grip that was standard on this one and refitted it with the Taurus Mod 85 shorter grip. The more I shoot this thing, the better I like it. After about 250 rounds, the trigger, which was pretty good, smoothed out some more. It weighs in at 24 oz, which is SP101 territory for weight but with that short, crisp double-action pull and the added weight, really eentsie-teentsie tight little groups can be had. I have no qualms about Taurus revolvers; this is my second one that just shoots beautiful and looks sharp.

Okay, .38 spcl it ain't but I shoot and carry a variety of .38 spcl ammo in it. Chiefly Georgia arms 110 gr Gold Dot JHP+P, 125 gr JHP+P, and 158 gr SWC. Shooting the .38 loads through this heavier snub gives superior handling and target retention.

My favorite .38 snubby...

Is a .357. An airlite 340PD. It's a .38 MOST of the time, in two ways. I shoot .38s with it for most of my fun and practice shooting; and, when I carry, it's loaded with 3 .38+p SWCHP followed by 2 .357 Golden Sabers or Pro-Loads (just in case a change of pace seems in order after a few .38s).

What do I like best? It's so light I'm willing to actually carry it.

What do I like least? Its light weight make it very sensitive to ammo, so finding loads that are controllable (and tolerable) and hit POA has taken a fair amount of 'research' shooting. Extra shooting--what a bummer! ;)

My favorite .38 Snubbie is a Taurus 617 7-shot .357 revolver with ported 2-1/2 barrel. I got lucky when I got this baby ... she has beautiful deep-blue bluing, super smooth action and trigger and the timing couldn't be better.

She's definitely a keeper!

Going to pass her down to my daughter one day.

Gunner

My favorite .38 special snub-nosed revolver is my Detective Special. I wanted a blued gun, but all I could get my hands on in those days in a little town in the boondocks of Wisconsin was nickel-plated, so I bought it. I didn't have a remarkably good trigger out of the box, but an action job smoothed the double action pull and left me with a 2.5-pound single action pull. It sports a set of Hogue uncheckered coco bolo stocks that fit my hand just right.

I don't take this one to the range very often, but it's perfect for introducing women to pistol shooting after they've become familiar with a .22 caliber pistol or two: it's not bulky or heavy, and with target loads, its recoil isn't a great deal more noticeable than a .22's.

I am sorry, but I don't own any .38Specials but I do own a few .357 magnums.

I carry a S&W-360SC with Winchester 130Grain .38Special +p SXT's

The only thing I don't like about this gun is that I wish I had bought the S&W-340PD, since I shoot all my revalvers in double-action mode only, and I would rather have the internal hammer.

Carry my 2nd Generation Colt Cobra in a Don Hume JIT Slide 95% of the time. Lighter than the Detective Special but still 6 shots. Rated for intermittent 38 Special +P.
One of the the few guns that I own that holds its value even though I use it as a carry piece.
Take Care

Old Taurus 85CH, stainless. The load is always 125 gr Federal NyClad HP. This gun is moderate in weight, dead on accurate, and indestructable. Grips are factory wood. Never saw a reason to change them.
