1. The Colt 1903 that has been in the family since the early 1960's. Made in 1915 per the serial #. My dad carried it for years on late-night trips to his pharmacy to fill emergency prescriptions. Last year, since my dad doesn't shoot much any more, my niece appropriated it and is deadly accurate with it.
2. The PPK/s I had put together from a Manurhin PP frame and a Walther PPK slide (I call it my "Wal-Manure" pistol). After a recent trip to the range, my niece appropriated it from my gun accumulation, saying she needed to "try something new for a while."
32acp is a fun cartridge. I kept wishing I could find one that wasn't a pocket pistol or a small military pistol with tiny sights. Then I saw my first Beretta Model 100. They have 6" barrels and adjustable sights. It took me a while to find one I could afford, but patience paid off in the end. It is a lot of fun to shoot!
The Colt 1903 is also a fun gun to shoot. It is heavy enough to absorb the already light recoil. It has tiny sights and I have middle-aged eyes, so I don't shoot as well as I wish I could, but I can tell it has great potential. It is well-made and points naturally.
Mauser 1914's are fun to shoot, too. This one and the Colt are both from 1915-16. The Mauser has government acceptance marks on it. The guys at the pawnshop didn't seem to really know what it was, so I got a good deal. It's a nuisance to field strip. It would be fun to have a 1910 Model (25acp) to go with it.
I like my Beretta 81 and 32 NAA Guardian, when the 22 shortage was in full swing I found an appreciation for the little 32 cal guns, revolvers and semi. The one that gets the most carry action is the NAA due to its size, makes the perfect pocket gun. My favorite shooter is my Ruger birds head Vaquero, I love to load up some wadcutters in 32long and pop a can around the yard or cut clean holes in paper. They are my bunny fart loads.
My one and only 7.65 is this pre-WWII PPK. I inherited it from my father in law and have the papers showing that it was a legal war souvenir. It is not a military pistol and has NO military markings. It did, however, come with a military flap holster and extra magazine. I like this little pistol a lot; it's accurate and has a satisfying "snappy" recoil. I have small hands so it fits me perfectly. I also have a Manhurin .22LR PPK/S and a .380acp PPK/S. both are delightful. I've had those two well over 30 years. I'd like to get the PPK re-blued and maybe wood grips. Anyone have suggestions on this?
My Walther Manurhin pp is originally from the Deutsche Polizei, refurbished by Walther in 1984. I bought it at Bitburg AB Rod and Gun Club. A joy to shoot, accurate and reliable. I carry it sometimes as my pocket gun. I load 84 gr cast bullets over Bullseye.
