Your family's attitude towards guns?

Shooting was the only sport my family enjoyed as a family. My father had a fool proof way of gun cleaning too. "Son, clean the guns.":D

LoL Sounds familiar. It also seamed to work for cleaning fish and game, sharpening knives, and reloading .38 target rounds, among other things.

I am from a very anti-gun family. Outside of my uncle who hunts I don't think there is a single person in my family other than myself who owns a gun. I don't know for sure, but as far as I know I am the only family member who owns a handgun. My family is very far left and they feel there should be heavy restrictions on guns. They want a lot of government control and high taxes. :mad:They feel abortion is an OK from of birth control. They even openly admit that they feel socialism is a better system! Yeah...so I try to avoid political talk with them. I learned to use guns mostly by taking NRA classes and from people I knew, or met while shooting. I did learn a little bit from DVDs.

Shooting and guns have always been in my family my ex wife tried to tell me no guns in the house and that was epic fail told her it wasn't going to happen. My dad taught me most of everything I needed to know about guns we are pretty much the only gun nuts in the family none of my kids took a interest in them so its just us two now, but he is retired military as i am as well so guns have always been apart of out family and my wife I have now knows this as well, so if there is any liberal family member that disagrees with what we have we either ignore them or crucify them with facts, yah they hate us for the most part but we are not gonna change any time soon

My parents were ambivalent mostly, I know my dad likes to shoot revolvers, but he was never quite willing to put out the money for one. My mom grew up in the country; I remember once I was checking out my friends milsurp Lee Enfield in our living room (I was 14) my mom came home, smiled and said hi and went about her business. So I was fairly ripe to be a gun-nut type. My wife is ambivalent, although she does insure she knows how to operate each and every one I've ever purchased (just in case) though the noise and recoil scare her. And my daughter is only 4 months old, so here's to hoping we've got another budding gun lover in the family. She thought it was real funny the other day when I pushed the cleaning brush through my shotgun barrel, I think it may have been the slight metallic wwwhhhisss noise it made :) but it's hard to tell because she has started laughing at everything!

guns are fine in the hands of the right people. in illinois the folks who have government permission to own a firearm are NOT allowed to carry one. the "hard cases", walking the streets ,possess, carry and shoot people in broad day light. the government doesnt like it , but doesnt do much about it either. this has been going on for decades:(
