Your experience on the XD 9mm sub compact?

Hey everyone,

I was hoping to hear from those who own/have owned the Springfield XD 9mm Sub Compact. I have one on hold at my Local Shop. Fits my hand very well when the grip extension is there for my pinky. I have not fired it before. They are not available to rent and I don't know anyone who has it.

I was just wondering if anyone had experience with it good or bad, I'm open to hear it.

Thanks.

I bought the XD9SC somewhat over a year ago and, since then, have put several hundred rounds of varied and assorted sizes, styles, and brands of 9 mm ammo through it. First, reliability has been excellent. In all the rounds I have put through it I have not had any problems with the little gun at all - none!

As far as accuracy is concerned one has to remember right off that it is a short barreled gun. Having said that my personal experience is that I can hit what I aim at pretty much all the time. My ultimate standard of personal accuracy is being able to put five rounds into a 9" paper plate at 25 yards and this has not been difficult for me to achieve although I am not any kind of an outstanding pistol shot. Yes, the XD9SD can achieve a "minute of paper plate" with not much difficulty at all.

Given its size it has been an outstanding concealed carry weapon, even with the extended magazine in place. Using the 10 round mag allows the little gun to simply disappear in an IWB carry rig.

So, for me, the SC9 has been an outstanding pistol and, based only on my personal experiences with it, I can give it high praise indeed.

I've had mine for about 4.5 yrs now. It's one of my favorite pistols. Mine is more accurate than I am, and super-reliable. When it was still being broken in, some of my friends jammed it with limp-wrists, but I've had 0 malfunctions personally.

The only complaint I have, is the finish, which is prone to rusting and just not that durable. I'm pretty sure they fixed this on the newer models.

I say go for it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

It shoots much better than it conceals. Unlike, dairycreek, i think it is an accurate gun without a lot of recoil, im sure due to the thickness of the grip. However, the gun is a pain in the arse to carry iwb. I dont know why but a glock conceals better and is more comfortable.

This is the main reason i sold this gun for a HK P2000SK and now i also carry a walther pps as well.If your buying this gun for carry, i would see if you can try it on at the store and see if its comfortable, and if your buying for HD and range, buy the 4" XD not the subcompact

I've owned one for the better part of 2 years now. I love it! I have an XML2 light attached to the rail and use this gun for home defense. I also shoot it at some of my IDPA matches. I don't use it for carry as I own a Kahr PM9 that carries better.

I have many hundreds of rounds through mine. I would never sell my xd 9mm sub compact. It is tough, reliable and points well for me.

Best of luck,
Major

I have had one since March 09 and it is a great CCW. I have about 800 rounds through it without one single problem. I carry it in a supertuck and while it is bulky it rides very well in it. I am relatively new to guns, but the XDSC seems like a great gun to me.

Bought one a few weeks ago and was surprised by the accuracy, 2 inch groups at 25 yards from a solid rest. The gun has also been 100% reliable with numerous factory hollow points. I found it to point naturally, and the trigger is just about as good as the trigger on my 40cal XD(m). I was impressed enough to recommend it to my son as an off duty CCW. He bought one, and is also very happy with his weapon.

It was my first gun actually. I had to sell it to compensate for some financial difficulties, but I still miss it. The early models did have problems related to the finish, but it's my understanding that Sprinfield has since corrected that problem.

Thanks for the input so far. I put $300 down and will pay the rest when I pick it up this Saturday. This will be my second firearm and I'm excited. Does anybody use the holster that comes with the XD? Is it any good?

Congratulations. The XD-9 is a great little gun. I had one for about 6 months and put about 500 rounds through it. Never had any failures and it was surprisingly accurate for such a short barrel. In the end I let it go in favor of the M&P 9c. While the M&P is slightly longer and heavier, I really liked the lower bore axis and really felt more comfortable for carry to me. I was also just a little more accurate with my M&P. I also have a Glock 26 and Glock 23 and I switch out for occasional carry as well.

I don't want to sound like I'm making recommendations for other guns... I have nothing but good things to say about the XD-9 SC. Sometimes I miss mine, but I am content enough with the other 2 subcompact 9mm guns and the slightly larger G23 in .40 S&W.... For those days when I wear more clothing, I have my SIG P220 Stainless Elite.

All in all I think you'll be very happy with the XD-9. It sounds like you've been bitten by the gun bug so better start planning out your next purchase!! I'm thinking a 1911 is next on my list. :D

Cheers.

I carry an XD9SC daily, and I love it. It's small, relatively lightweight, 100% reliable and damned accurate. It replaced my Steyr S9 because of the round count (13+1) and availability of holsters and accessories.

So far, I haven't found a better compact 9 out there.

no the holster is junk, the mag pouch can be utilized however if you decide to shoot any local IDPA matches.

Pick yourself up a decent holster, it will really help for concealability. I would personally recommend a comp-tac mtac or the crossbreed supertuck.

The comp-tac is cheaper at $80 and is ultimately the same thing

I found out that the holster is belt loop only, and I believe the mag carrier is the same way. That probably won't work for me because I am often not wearing a belt. I do wear a belt at work everyday but for my personal day to day, I don't.

I definitely want to look into a IWB holster for it. I'll look around online to see what I can find.

What do you guys think about replacing the stock sights with HI VIZ sights? I saw it online and the XD model it would be like $100 for front and rear sights, not including shipping.

XD9SC

This is a great gun to shoot and carry. You can get an "Uncle Mike's" #15 IWB holster for about $13 or $14. Fits perfectly.

XD 4 inch barrel

ours is really hard to cock compared to glock and others. i think that is just mine though. is it that normal?

What They Said!

Have had an XD 9 SC for, oh, going on a number of years now. Acutally bought one of the first year models, and was one of the first out the door here at my local gun shop.

Nary a problem of any kind, but over time, it did seem to be a tad "wide" for IWB carry. I now carry a Kahr CW9.

The XD is now my "car" gun, the wife has one, and they have both been absolutely reliable, etc.

Unconditional recommendation here.

Uncommonly accurate for such a short barrel. This is the main carry pistol I use. The later-produced specimens come with a 13 round "stubby" magazine (used to be 10) as well as the extended 16 round magazine. I have a Pearce +0 extension on my 13 round magazines and it really helps get that pinky a place to rest when gripping. I've also got the TruGlo night sights and Crimson Trace laser grips on her too. I highly recommend either upgrade. As with all my XD's (XD45, XDm 9mm and XD9 SC)....it has never suffered a single failure of any kind whatsoever using many, many different brands of premium hollowpoint and target (round nose) rounds.

Proud new owner of XD9 sub compact!

I picked up my new xd9 yesterday and I couldn't be happier. I don't really like the holster but I plan on buying a better one anyways. I love how easy it is to disassemble. It just fits perfectly in my hands.

Pictures to come

Here are some pictures... Also my SR9 with Green Laser too

Don't like fiber optic

Want to replace sights on XD9, subcompact, mod2, 9mm.Old eyes and fiber optic can not see in low light. Like my Mep. True Glo on CZ Rami. Great day or night and very simple but appears not made for XD.No big dot, like rear notch.
Suggestions please.
Thanks
