Your cheapest handgun.

Cheap only in price ... my NAA Pug cost me under $300 and is worth every dime ... lots of fun and a great attention-getter at the range, in my pocket right now ..
 
I also have a F.I.E. Titan 25 acp I bought for a whopping $40. Completely reliable and oddly accurate for such a tiny pistol.
 
I buy beaters so I don't have one that cost more than $250. Cheapest that wasn't free was a HiPoint JHP.45 that I got at Cabelas of all places for $120. LNIB with a second mag that was never used.

Raven P25, I'm fascinated by them. When I was a kid back in the 70s, it seemed like everyone had a Raven. I bought myself one recently just for kicks. Wish I could find some mother of pearl grips for it!

I got this one from my father years ago. I had almost picked up a used Jennings at a gun show for $25 and mentioned it to my father telling him I wanted a cheap .22lr handgun. He went on to tell me that $25 was too much for a Jennings and produced this German .22lr SA revolver, there's no manufacturer mark on it, just the country of origin and the model LA's Deputy. Not particularly accurate but it makes a pretty good rodent/snake gun with the snake shot .22 cartridges from federal. Dad couldn't remember where he had gotten it from, just that someone had left it with him to try to get it fixed and then never returned for it (my father had an FFL for a number of years). It's still a fun gun to shoot.

Count me as another former Titan owner. Mine was only $25 but it didn't have a mag. Found one for locally for $10 but the guy who was selling it said he would buy my Titan for $50. Used that money to buy a Phoenix HP22 on sale NIB for $49.95
 
I picked up an old Empire State Arms hammerless .38 s&w for $70.00 mostly because I liked the way it looked. Took it to the range and it actually worked, so I cleaned off the rust and now I'm going to touch up the bluing.
 
Beretta 950 Jetfire, .25ACP, purchased ~3 weeks ago for $170 OTD!



It's a US-production gun made in 1992 according to the Beretta website. It has zero holster wear, no scratches in the metal, a few dings in the RH grip panel only, and no signs of pocket lint; I don't believe it has ever been carried. It had been neglected by a former owner and had a coat of very light rust all over it when I bought it; however, it cleaned up really nicely, with only one little spot of pitting at RH rear corner of the slide. Plus, it came with 5 rounds of ammo that were somewhat oxidized but they all went BANG! OK, it's .25ACP, perhaps the sound was more like POP! ;)
 
I have a Marlin 39A I bought new in about 1969 for $89. That wasn't all that inexpensive then. My one surviving shotgun and both my remaining Smith revolvers were bought used, the wheelguns in very good condition.

I'd have to say all of mine were inexpensive. But except for the old beater Stevens double 12 gauge, I refuse to call any of them "cheap".
 
i bought a sporterized Carcano with 3 enbloc clips at a gunshow about 3 years ago. i looked at it on the table and the price tag was 80$ this thing looked like it had been left in a wet ditch somewhere for years, not much rust but the stock looked like it was about to sprout leaves. i looked at the guy and asked if it worked. he said "i dunno" i said ill give ya 40$ if ya throw in that single round of 6.5 Carcano you have behind you. he said " DEAL!" i cleaned it up sanded down the stock and oiled the crap out of everything. some internal parts were missing in the clip retainer area so it was a single shot. my neighbor came over that evening and asked what i had got at the gunshow, i showed him that rifle. he said does it work? told him i have 1 round that im going to test it with the next day. he said if it didnt blow up he would buy it for 60$ i fifgured either i get to see $40 worth of Italian steel blow up or i make $20. Win win situation right? so we took it out to the desert strapped it to a table and tied a string to the trigger and hid behind a dirt bank......BANG! the rifle didn't blow up, and i made 20$ off the deal :D

Doh! You just reminded me that I have one of those. Okay, so that's my cheapest handgun. It was a kit, given to me by a brother who had received it as a gift and let it rust. It wasn't pre-blued. I had to blue it after getting the rust off with steel wool. The wood grips were big blocks that I had to cut and sand to fit me. I had to "season" the cylinder in the oven in cooking oil at 350 degf. I had to buy .44 lead balls, and #11 caps and fffg powder and learn how to load and shoot a reproduction of a Colt Army Model 1860 revolver. I guess if my time was worth anything, it was probably my most expensive handgun. :o

A month or two ago I got a 1941 Carcano Infantry Rifle for $60 with 20 rounds of original ammo and a stripper clip. Stock was in great condition, bore was spotless and shined like a mirror once cleaned up, finish had some light rusting but cleaned up well, and had all matching serial numbers. I just sold it for $200, not a bad deal at all.
