Your besterest ever snub for IWB?

I have a couple of 642's that still get shot a good bit, but not carried to much anymore these days. They are still my favorite "carry" snubbie. I never really carried them IWB, unless they were just stuck in my waistband, sans holster. My normal carry mode for them is either a Desantis ankle holster, or a GALCO "Executive" shoulder holster, both of which, work very well. A Desantis "Confidant" undershirt holster also works very well, and with the pair together.

Ive had a number of others, mostly all Smiths, 10's, 60's, 637's, and a 19, which I still have. The J frames were carried in the same holsters above, the K frames, on my belt, in a leather OWB.

The K frames are the most pleasant to shoot, but not necessarily, pleasant, especially depending on what grips they are wearing and the load. The light J frames are not pleasant, especially when wearing "carry" grips (for me, thats the old service stocks and a Tyler T grip), and anymore, about a box of 50 is all I can take at an outing.

As far as removing the spur on the trigger, Ive done it on a couple of K and N frame guns I converted to DAO, and never had an issue with ignition. I didnt remove anymore material than was necessary to get a smooth job, and more or less pleasing lines. Ive seen some that literally looked like a hack job.

If youre shooting them as they should be shot, there really is no need for the spur, the lack of it, does aid in getting it out of snaggy places.

One day at the range I shot the same .357 factory made bullets from two guns, a 39oz 6" M19 with wood Magna grips and a 23oz 2.125" M60 with Uncle Mike's combat grips.

The M60 was more pleasant to shoot. YMMV, etc

I just removed enough so that it couldn't catch on anything. There is still a small smoothly rounded bump left. It has given no light strikes that I know of, in other words no failures to fire. I read a number of threads and articles before I did it. The gunsmiths and technical people all seemed to agree that it was okay. I used this snubby because the trigger was very smooth and I could shoot it well double-action.

I don't carry a small revolver much anymore but if I did it would be either my Colt Cobra or Agent. Cobra is stock. Agent has a bobbed hammer. Both have factory grips and Tyler T's. Either would be carried in a custom AIWB holster by Red Cent Leather.

Smith 640 with 125 gr Hornady Short barrel .357 loads. I have a speed strip with 125 gr 38S +p in the pocket. Sometimes it is a pocket pistol sometimes IWB sometimes OWB, depending on attire. I might add it wears a set of VZ round butt grips. This is my warm weather rig. Once we get cooler with heavier cover garments the Bobtailed commander with 2 spare mags comes out. Now the 1911 is back in season the 640 is in for vision and cosmetic procedures. The Gun doc is going to put an Ashley big dot night site out front, bead blast the whole thing and then re cerrocoat the backstrap and butt in flat black...The better to not be seen when IWB or in a pocket.

My old Cobra light weight. Tuned and bobble. Most of the finish worn off. Cary great and shoots better than I can.

Have been trying to post a picture but cant...sorry I give up.

I'm not a snubbie fan, and I've never carried ISW, but if I did, I'd just use the same old Model 12-2 Airweight I use for OWB carry. It's the only "snubbie" I've really liked.

K-frame, six shots, aluminum frame, magna's with a T-grip. What's not to like?

I have a couple lightweights but they get pocket carried, for IWB I don't mind a little weight with a good belt so my best set up for carry would probably be my custom Speed Six, Smooth DAO and a XS big dot.

but I also like my SMith 19 and Colt DSII as they are both so dang purdy.

S&W 340PD. At 11.5 ozs a breeze to carry but stoked with .357 a monster to shoot.
Best loaded with .38 +P.

I always thought S&W's engineers must have drunk-pranked the world with the scandium .357s. "HO HO HO, just built a new lightweight .38, let's slap .357 on the side and see what suckers we can get to shoot it!"

My S&W351PD gets a lot of pocket time. It's the lightest J-frame you can get and it carries 7 rounds of .22mag, in my case Speer Gold dots.

My 2" Model 10 with a round grip frame is a close second.

In short barreled revolvers for all day carry I like the S&W model 36 3" for IWB, the 2" Mod.10 & 64 with round butt some times a 2" mod. 15 for OWB and the model 642 for pocket carry.

AK, I think you mean that you removed the spur from the hammer, not the trigger.

For IWB, the second-series Colt Detective Special.

I consider any Detective Special to be just fine for IWB. The cylinder seems just a tad bit slimmer than a K-Frame Smith and the 6th round is a good idea.

But I have given up on 2-inch wheelguns because I cannot shoot them with much accuracy. So it is 3-inches for me.

3-inch Detective Specials are rare. I build one using a late generation DS 3-inch full-underlug barrel, and an old 4-inch Police Positive Special. It balances and shoots so much better than the 2-inch guns. It also works in IWB carry just as well since that extra inch of barrel is not really noticeable.

And the Cobra and Agent are too light for enjoyable shooting. An all steel gun isn't that hard to carry.

Who still hangs on to his first 2-inch DS. Just doesn't shoot it.

It's a little heavy, but in a pancake holster, pretty darn comfy:
