Your Best .38 Revolver

I've had dozens of 38's over the years. I'll probably have a few more unless the Lord calls me home first, but the only one I've got now is one of the most useful, and used ones.



Smith & Wesson Model 12-2, Airweight. Six shots, aluminum K-frame. Light as a feather. Shoots like a dream. I generally shoot either 148 grain wadcutters, or 158 grm LSWC's in it, with a few rounds of P+ once in a while for grins and giggles.

I carry it every day, either in my jacket pocket, or an OWB strong side holster.

Some of you guys (guess I picked that expression up when I lived a few years in New Jersey) are disturbing. Ask for your favorite .38, and you post pictures of a truck load of the same to make the rest of us green with envy. Seriously, thanks for sharing picturesof some beauty revolvers. :)
 
I like my K-38 and also a Colt (Yep, you read that right) Army Special, but I shoot best with a Model 19 and a 586. Both of the last two are .357 but have seen a lot more .38 Special Wadcutter loads than either .357 or full power .38.

most accurate is my 6" 14-4, best carry would be my LCR since it has XS front night sights and Crimson trace, sexiest would be a tie between my limited edition 442 and my Colt DSII.

 
I have two that both shoot the 38/44 ammo I reload (think almost 357 Mag).

The 38/44 cartridge was loaded with a 158g projectile to ~1140 fps in a 5" and ~1100 fps in a 4". My handloads duplicate this.

The only "38" I own is a 64-2 snub. As for my my favorite 357 that will shoot 38's that is a whole new deal. I don't know that I can choose. I would say either my 4" 13 or my 2" 60. The 13 puts bullets insanely close to one another on target. The 60 shoots better than a 2" should, enough so I will probably sell the 64 soon.
 
I like this little Model 64 DAO snubbie. Just a really nice gun to carry and a great, smooth shooter.

It's sporting some Altamont fake ivory grips I just got for it.

My model 10-5 3" ex Victoria Police gun. I added laser grips to help make up for my aging eyes at night.
