You won't believe what this bozo said

Can you post the address? I have a Winchester model 37-goose gun. It’s a single shot and I want to make it into a semi-auto.
Betch ya if’n anybudy kin does it tha'ns all kin.

Uh ... also, does that guy know if I can convert a Chipmunk .22 rifle over to full-auto, legally? Or should I just start another thread on that one? ;) ;)

My uncle has a T/C Contender in .30-30 with a 14" bbl I think. He says the muzzle flash and recoil are tremendous - just a shot or two is all you'll want.

I would have told him I only buy Winchester because they come with a free bottle of Jack Daniels. Let him spread that rumor around.

When I first read this, I was somewhat amused. But you know what? This is the kind of people that been allowed to germinate in our society.
Obviously the guy is a liar, and wants to sound knowledgable, and of course, he probably thought he was talking to somebody who was ignorant as hell.
And who knows, maybe the douchebag works for HCI, or someother "agency" intent upon the destruction of Freedom, and the American way.

The most foolish mistake we could make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms; history shows that all conquerers who have allowed their subjected people to carry arms have prepared their own fall.
Adolf Hitler

Well, he might also be flying secret raids in black helicopters during his coffee breaks at Wally World ... but, I don't think his feet can reach the pedals. ;) ;)

Bolt action rifles have been converted to semi-automatic before; witness the Howell or Reider or Charlton conversions of the SMLE and even our own Pedersen Device for the 1903. The problem though is that an assault rifle by definition takes an intermediate cartridge and the 30-06 is a full length, full power cartridge. I suppose a chamber insert could be used - provided it isn't extracted with the case. Feasible, but high impractical. What a bozo of a salesman.

It's a shame that this type is allowed to exist behind the counters of stores that maintain a stock of firearms and related shooting supplies.
I've been into high-end gunstores where the knucklehead said there was no difference between rifle and pistol primers, and all powders were the same......
On more occasions than I'd like to count I've been "swept" with the muzzle of a weapon........
Ditto being handed a weapon without first visually inspecting the chamber......

The absolute worst was the "Professional" gun store where a long haired, bearded, dunlop bellied fool struck up a conversation with the wife that went something like this(I kid you not!):
"Hey there, little lady! You be interested in gettin' yerself a gun for protekshun when yer hubby ain't around? Somethin like this little S&W Ladysmith would fit you about purfect. "
The Missus replied that hubby was present (a nod in my general direction), and also stated that I and she were entirely capable of maintaining our safety, with or without the other being present.
This buffoon went on to completely make an ass out of himself, all the while attempting to loudly dispense his words of knowledge for all within earshot.
Fortunately these establishments don't last long, and are few and far between. The number of decent stores with qualified staff has improved dramatically in the past several years, and the terstosterone level has been muted a bit as well.
Not too soon coming, IMNSHO, as females make up 50% (+/-) of the population, and more women are accepting the responsibility of their own personal protection.

Heh heh. The tragedy of it all is that at his IQ level, this poor sod probably has no idea why he goes through life getting yelled at and fired. . . .

Kinda like the guy on Glocktalk who met a guy at some sporting goods counter (customer, not clerk) who told him he had a very rare Glock, called a Glock 7, which was all ceramic and plastic and could pass undetected through metal detectors.
(See the Die Hard trilogy for a full explanation of the history of the Glock 7.)
