Yet another .22 question......

Another consideration is to go the suppressor route. A bit more expensive and a bunch of hoops to jump through but an option none-the-less.

Quiet .22

For quiet, safe .22 shooting you can't beat CB Longs. Sounds like a big staple gun, enough power for squirrels if the range isn't too long. Basement shooting with 8-10 layers of glosy magazines for backstop works fine but be careful about lead and ventilation. Shooting lots of shorts can "ring" your chamber. I'd get the best bolt I could afford, and use CB longs where quiet is needed and LRs elsewhere.

Remington makes (or made) a pump rifle (Mod 572) which will handle CB's, shorts, longs or long rifles.
They also make an accurate semi auto (I believe it's a Mod 552) which handles all three lengths as well.
I used to have one of each, but let them both get away from me.

Just two more choices to confuse you. ;)

Jumping in late: The old Remington 550, a tube-magazine semi-auto, didn't care about shorts, longs, or long rifles. You could mix or match. They're reasonably accurate, as well.

The 552 is an updated version.

They're both pretty much "full-sized" guns, not kid-sized shorties. (Although I had mine when I was a teeny-bopper.)

You could run an "I want" ad on various websites, or travel to some larger gunshows...
