Yeah, baby!! About time, too!!

Scotchman, don't be misleading now. We don't need a permit to purchase a gun...but you do need one to carry concealed in most states. Depending on the state it may be a simple process, or an almost impossible one like in the communist state of New York.

Whaaaa????

You sure about that, old hoss? FLA ain't the whole USA

I concur with Am Eagle's assertion, Chris. Exception to New York, though. If you're upstate such as peetzakilla, permits aren't necessarily nearly impossible to get.

Shane it may be a pointless examination and check and it may not be; that's not the gist of my comment :)

The statement had been "if only being American was enough- still waiting on permit", and the reply to that was "don't be misleading now. We don't need a permit to purchase a gun...but you do need one to carry concealed in most states "

The comment was not only about FLA laws- the reply was to 'being American'. It had an addition to it, too, about concealed

My own comment is that although to FLA residents (or any area's residents for that matter) it may seem as if X Y or Z is the case in the USA, the real catch is local laws, not what is the norm in somebody else's backyard

In this instance, I feel it's not quite right to suggest that in then USA, a permit isn't needed to purchase a firearm, especially since non-US citizens are involved in the discussion as a whole
