Xtreme .224" 5.56mm 55gr FMJ Bullets...Opinions?

I use them and like them for plinking/fun at the range ammo. I find them comparable to the Hornady fmjbt 55gn. Of the two, I order whichever is cheapest at the time.
 
when i buy bullets, i use extreme pretty much exclusively, i sometimes use grafs for brand name stuff

extreme always has what i need in stock and they ship to your door in a couple days
 
I have used them before, and they are great for plinking loads. I generally order from Xtreme or the Hornady 55 FMJ w/ cannelure, depending on what is cheaper at the moment, and have not noticed a difference at all in the two bullets. I use the same load and get the same results with the two.

Thanks for posting the link and asking the question, I am running low on bullets and was planning on ordering some this week. I clicked the link and the price is lower than anywhere with the Hornady's in stock, I just ordered 500 of them.

I recently purchased a lot of 6000 Hornady 55gr FMJ-BT-W/C for $496 (with shipping). Thats about $0.0826 per bullet.

Those X-Treme bullets you posted are $0.08 per bullet, which is great.

I just have personal running track record with my Hornadys. I use them for everything in 3-gun and shoot them up to 500yds.
 
Hands down worst 55gr bullet I have ever loaded

Had to resurrect this one as a warning to precision shooters...

Got 500 of these because of the price. My pet 8208 XBR load that produces sub MOA results with Remington 55gr FMJ (16" BCM AR) is what I started with. Using this target and 5 shot groups, I was unable to tell which 5 was shots corresponded with which aiming point. Group sizes at 100 yards were 7-8"!!!!!

These bullets won't group in my BCM BFH M4! They are only good for short range tactical shooting. IMO

On a good note I love their plated pistol bullets.

Sorry, I hope they shoot better for you. Maybe I got a bad batch (ordered end of May last year)... I considered calling them and asking if i could the return the 450 I had left from my load trials... I just used the 450 I had left for "indoor range ammo"

The 55gr .224" bullets that extreme sells are jacketed bullets. I have tried plated hard cast 55gr .224" pills from a local vendor (FFF here in OH) and they performed better, but some came apart and make interesting spiral designs on my targets.

if you must know...

Charge is slightly under the maximum recommended per Hodgdon's website.
Powder is IMR 8208 XBR as I stated in my first post.
Primer is CCI 400.
COAL is 2.235"
Once fired LC 5.56, chamber formed, neck sized, and trimmed to 1.750"

This load yields .65" 5 shot groups at 100 yards using Remington 55g FMJ projectiles out of a 16" chrome lined 1/7 twist BCM BFH barrel on the sled.

8208 XBR does even better with the SMK 77gr... half MOA up near max charge per Hodgdons website
 
After trying 10 rnds at my pet load of 25.1gr, I loaded 10 each at 23.0, 23.5, 24.0, and 24.5, I couldn't get a group under 5 moa... at that point I reconfirmed my 25.1 with 55g SGKs I had = or < 1 moa. Ive found those game kings are great little bullets. this was all at 100yds. This left me with 450 out of the 500 which I loaded over 23.0gr of CFE 223 for "shoot house" ammo. Ive got about 300 rounds left. I did also try it in three other AR's I have, another BCM, a Spikes Elite, and a Black Hole 16" carbine length P3 (incredibly accurate barrel). I really thought it was something I did but the sub par results are consistent in all my rifles. All of these rifles have been proven to shoot sub MOA on the sled with a good load.
