XDS trigger pull

Buy a P64 and shoot it double action for awhile. Then 7 pounds will feel like a target trigger.

I have the Powder River spring kit in my XDM. Great !! ? Didn't do anything else , just the spring kit. Its now in line with my VP9 and PPQ.

We just qualified for our concealed carry permits & my wife used her LCR 357 and her groups were right on. All at 3 & 4 O'clock in the 9's & 8's. Afterwards I let her shoot my Glock19 which has a 6 lb pull vs the 13lb pull of her Ruger. She was amazed & shot even better. She will never see 65 again & is 105 lbs. IMHO I can't imagine that your family would suffer shooting a revolver with a 7 lb pull. Question. Have they tried this revolver?

Gwillikers, thanks G. I'm not buying a new gun.

This is my wife's range gun. Most likely I'll leave it alone, but I'm tempted to buy the spring or spring and sear kit for it to see if it will make it a 5lb release with less take up weight.

^^^Ha!

May have been stated before but the reason this pistol has a "heavy" trigger pull is stress. If you've not been in a high stress situation with a pistol in your hand (not making assumptions, mearly examples) the trigger pull of a firearm disappears. That 7lbs becomes 7oz in the matter of a couple heart beats and some adrenal gland secretion.

7pounds is a perfectly serviceable trigger weight for all most all people, now a gritty trigger pull is another thing.

I'm far from a firearms expert but I haven't noticed the trigger pull being any kind of detriment on my XDs. I can't tell you if it is 7 pounds or not but I shoot this pistol pretty well at pistol self defense ranges. Maybe it's just a matter of getting used to it.

I have a stock as a clock XDS 45 .. Trigger is acceptable... being its a SD firearm ... I cut my teeth on DA revolvers ..

I put Powder River kits in all 3 of my XDs and was surprised at their consistency. According to my Lyman gage the trigger pulls are between 4.5 and 4.7 pounds.

Nathan,
You're actually passing up a perfectly good reason to buy another gun?
You obviously need professional help.

So true....where is the wife? We need to load up and head to town!

XDS 45 and PRP tigger kit.

I had the Powder River kit with sear put into mine XDs 45 as I found it very hard to get proficient with it in practice (the 45 acp in this gun is for sure a handful) because of the creep and crappy break. Now, it's much cleaner in it's break and is pound for pound the same as my 1911 at about 4.6-4.8 pounds. Not too light, but much cleaner feeling

I'm impressed with anyone who shoots the LCR .357 accurately. Tried one recently and got my trigger finger brutalized. I'll have to stick with my big ole Smiths.

EDIT: Thought I was replying to Doc about his wife's LCR and her marksmanship. Sorry for the non sequitur.

Glock, M&P, XD, Walther have DAO only actions of 6 lb or more (XDM has a slightly different design but similar effect). Beretta, CZ, and Sig are mostly DA/SA. At the HK price point I don't know or care. I'm sure there are many other pistols and my statement wasn't meant to be absolutely all encompassing, but I'm pretty sure you're not going to get a 1911 style in a polymer pistol that sells less than US$800.

To the topic, Springfield used to provide a service to work on XDMs on a more competition basis. This may be an additional option. Here it is.

The XD is single action. The XDS is very Glocklike and is closer to DAO. No matter what S&W claims the M&P is single action

Best learn to shoot it as is. 7 lbs isn't too heavy for this type trigger. If you want a good trigger you prolly should trade it in for a 1911 gun.
