XD vs. M&P vs. Glock in .40 S&W only, best one?

I too say rent them all and see which one is right for you. I owned 2 out of the 3 shot the 3rd one. Came home with a Walther ppq best trigger out of the box. Wasn't even on my list lol.

Funny how people gauge a good trigger.
Shot a friends xdm and was left unimpressed by the feel and the trigger.
Glocks ? Just never did warm up to them. Shot a G35 with a drop in trigger. I could probably get comfortable with that set up.
M&P has the best feel for me. Trigger isn't a hard fix imo even if you stick with the stock parts.

Walther seems to have the best trigger out of the box in a poly gun. Again, just like the feel of the M&P better.
Let's face it, poly guns aren't 1911s.

Our local county PD, SO, State Fish and Game as well as the GSP went with G-22's twenty years ago. The GSP gave the 45 GAP a short run and are now with G-17's. All others are still using G-22's. I have a lot of contacts with the local LE and they have had zero problems the last 20 years.

All guns have problems here are a few with the Glock:

The first from Miami:

The other from Knoxville.

From L.A.

and elsewhere...

Glock is one of the most widely distributed handguns in law enforcement in the country. It has had many issues over the years in the hands of law enforcement. It remains one of the most trusted though. These issues have largely been cleared up. But it took some time. But it is not accurate to say it has had no problems.

Yep things were not grim for Glock. Myself and many others knew that at the time.

But the incorrect estimate of one gun writer in 2003 is not the point. A fella could get lost wandering down that path.

Glock, like other manufacturers of firearms, have produced occasional malfunctioning guns or lots with sub par parts in them as the articles I found in a few minutes search showed. They are not flawless and it's wise to treat them as another gun. They can malfunction. They do have a good service record but it's on a par with other guns of their class.
