1.Create a one year period for the United States of America to purchase at
fair market value all guns and firearms, including hand guns, rifles, and
even antique guns and rifles from domestic private ownership.

2.Prohibit and criminalize the domestic sale of guns and firearms, whether
new or used.

3.Seize and destroy any gun or firearm found after the termination of the
purchase period without compensation.

4.Prohibit and criminalize the domestic possession of a gun or firearm after
the termination of the one year purchase period.

5.Provide exemptions for governmental law enforcement agencies, the
armed services, and bona fide museums.

With the above enumerated petition of the organizer of goodbyeguns.org, I can say that these people are less rational in terms of
purpose of existince.

I thought, americans are more advance in any subject matter because of its place in the world, but reading such petitions will
only remind me that you are going back to old history that you only want the powerful elite to put their subjects like a lame
duck. That any person or group belonging to the massess will be under their mercy.

At this time, it would be different now - the more you are pushing back the citizenry or be strick in defending their life, the more
they will fight back the governing body.

I am against that guns will be only for the Law enforcer. It has been proven many times that many criminals in uniforms, and it
was the cause also that many are fighting against the government because of that. If the law abiding (qualified) citizen will be cut of of his right to own firearms, then the uniform criminals and the ordinary criminals will sow terror to the hapless citizenry.

I am wondering that such citizen from USA are talking nonsense like this when in fact - USA and other industrialized countries
are profiting in the sales of arms.

Also, it was an industrialized country who really manufacture so much weapons to sell on 3rd world countries. Your reasons
and opinions would be like the programs of some Law enforcer to catch the drug pusher but cannot eliminate the Drug Lord.

In my country, laws in owning legal arms is also getting tighter but I can see in the country side that weapons are sold easily to
those who want to buy one or more and they are all military weapon.

To conclude, your objective in being an anti gun ownership will not prosper as this is against self preservation.

God, Gun, Gold are the only things that makes a human being exist with peace of mind. Security is one of the hierarchy of
needs.

I tried to leave an Email, but my computer puked all over the place and went for a reboot. Is this good taste on the part of my computer (not likely--it's a corporate computer that runs Bill Gates' products), a virus on the site or just God protecting me from a coronary?
 
Media blitzes are very expensive, and
we are being blitzed on every front. It
takes deep pockets to do that. Wealthy
forces with something to gain, I'm convinced,
are behind this. There's no other explanation how it could be so constant and pervasive, especially over expensive media.
Therefore, I don't think you are trying to
reason with something that doesn't care...

Friends, with all due respect, your time would be much better spent writing cogent letters to the editors for local and national papers.

Please take a look at the 'The 5 Minute Handbook' in the TFL Library - lots of good ideas. Including, don't waste time on anti-self defense true believers. They are lost, and they bleed your energy when you try to convert them.

I don't know if any of you are in Southern California, but on AM790 between 4pm-7pm, Larry Elder (a black Libertarian) has one of the best quotes. "Facts to a Liberal is like cryptonite to superman". Yep, reasoning with them and using things such as fact doesn't work... Oh well...

I know that it may be useless, but I couldn't help it. Here's what I sent him:

I was wondering- where do you get the statistics and information to support what you write
on the "gun control myths" page? The ideas that you present are powerful, but they are
also completely meaningless unless you back them up with verifiable research.

One example is this:
In Maryland, Governor Glendenning recently held hearings about his "child lock" law. At
these hearings, the panel wanted to know how many children under 15 had been killed in
gun accidents in Maryland during the past 10 years. All of his witnesses answered the
question "A lot." "Many, many children," etc. Dr. John Lott was testifying there also. He
was able to answer the question with the actual number. Two. Two in ten years is no less a
tradgedy, but it is a far cry from an epidemic. Dr. Lott also pointed out that more children
died during that period from drowining in five gallon plastic buckets. Yet no one wants to
ban plastic buckets. The Governor all of a sudden looked fairly foolish, and was visibly
angry at his "experts."

Also, all verifiable scientific statistical data that has been produced on the subject shows that
in areas where guns are banned, violent crime against non-criminal victims rises. And in
every case where an area has decided to allow ownership and carry of firearms, violent
crime has immediately dropped off.

Please, please, please, look at the data before spouting rhetoric. There is far too much of
that going on from both sides of this issue.
