Would you use a Boberg XR pistol as a CCW?

I've got a XR9-S and a XR45-S. Both have been reliable, accurate and easy to shoot, not to mention a breeze to carry.
I CC them on a regular basis. Never had a case separation.

That's not even an 'apples to oranges' comparison, that's more like 'apples to squash'...

Invoking the mechanical irrelevance of how a barrel is cooled is an apples-to-Klingons straw-man analogy.

Any DAO auto is the worst of both worlds. The slow inaccurate trigger of a revolver coupled with the inherent complication of feeding/extraction in an auto.

The Boberg's trigger is an improvement on any d/a revolver I've shot. While it is not SAO, it definitely is no revolver trigger. And, with the right ammo, the gun is perfectly reliable and accurate. It has an 8-round capacity and the manufacturer states that it can handle +P 9mm. If you've got to have a SA trigger, I get it - most of my range guns are SA. I just don't like to carry SA or Glock-action guns. Just not my thing.

Yeah, since it worked great over a hundred years ago on the old belt fed Maxim '08 and Vickers machine guns in WW1, that means it will work just as well on a small, magazine fed pistol today.. because those two weapon systems (compact carry pistol and water-cooled heavy machine gun) are pretty much equivalent, right?
Most western belt feds still work on the principle, and all belt feds resolved any bullet pulling issues by proper crimp/cannelure. So quite applicable to smaller platforms in that sense. Ever wonder why you can't safely re-chamber your ammo many times in a push feed? Have you ever checked your cast and poorly secured reloads for setback during automatic feeding?

Glocks don't like plated/lead bullets either, so not super uncommon on that restriction. What is uncommon is the size and power of the Boberg.

barnbwt, I wasn't saying that the design principle of reverse feed is not sound.. I'm saying that two compare it's effectiveness/reliability in two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT weapon platforms is meaningless.

For an 'apples to apples' comparison, the US M60 machine gun took several sound, proven design features from multiple machine guns that had worked well in combat (MG-42, FG-42 via the Lewis gun, etc). However, the end result never really lived up to expectations despite the proven design features that were implemented. Just because a design feature worked well in one weapon system, doesn't mean it automatically works just as well in another, especially in a completely different weapon platform.

Could reverse feed work just as reliably in a pistol as it did with machine guns? Sure, why not? Some company one day might make a reverse feed pistol that matches, or exceeds, the field proven reliability of current Glocks, M&P's, Sig's, etc, with all ammo types. However, stricly IN MY OPINION, the Boberg design is not that pistol. Because of that, and the fact that their are a multitude of reliable, field-proven options, I would never choose to carry one.
