Would you try for it?

Um, you need to read the rules for CCW in your state

MrAcheson asks:
Didn't see the show but obviously the characters in this situation must have been the cops? Otherwise what state do you live in that would allow CCW in a bank?

Well, for starters, my own home state of Nevada. Go ahead and read the Nevada entry on packing.org. There's no probihition against carrying in a bank. My own bank has no private posting against it either. I carry there on the rare occasions I don't use the drive-through window. Just to be sure, I called the Sheriff's Office long ago to confirm this fact. Same rules apply in banks as in casinos; most people make the erroneous assumption that you can't carry in either place by law.

By the way, I'm really surprised that no one has mentioned the likelihood that if you don't stop the bank robbers on the spot, they'll do it again at another bank...

Sorry its been my experience around here that carrying in a bank is a good way to get arrested if someone notices. Doesn't matter if its legal. Doesn't matter if they don't have posted signs.

As for them robbing someone else, not my problem. Its the cops job to catch criminals and a CCW permit does not make you a cop. I'll try to be the best damn witness I can though. I am not going to start a firefight in a potentially crowded area with people that heavily out gun me (2 uzis vs my concealed carry piece?) and likely have the drop on me. Escalating a situation like this will get people killed. Non-resistance has better odds for everyone to get out of this safe and sound. Money is less important than people's lives, etc., etc.

Where's "here"?

You're carrying concealed... why would someone notice anyway?

I don't know about your state, but the law in Nevada is very clear on this issue: unless posted by the business, it is every bit as legal to carry in a bank as it is in any other legal venue. If posted otherwise, and you are somehow pegged as carrying (you shouldn't), the proprietor then must ask you to leave. If you do not leave, you are then - and only then - subject to arrest, for trespass, not for concealed carry, which I repeat is perfectly legal in Nevada.

Again I'd like to ask, where's "here" for you that things are different, and why are you assuming all states are like your state?

It seems unwise to choose to start a gunfight, and far more so at two to one odds. Surprise and tactics can even that somewhat, but it would have to be something I was forced into choosing over a worse option. Especially at a bank; WTH, they've always got lots of money... VERY little of it mine :p

I'm with Thorazine, rob them after the leave the bank. :D Otherwise, I'd let them walk.

While we're talking about this episode of Third Watch, did you notice during the slow-mo sequence of Faith plugging the BG with the revolver that the last sound before the scene resumed normal speed was a spent case hitting the floor? BG got no shots off and Faith had a revolver. . . hmmm . . . gunman on the grassy knoll? ;)

I was also intrigued by the magic magazines in the BGs' AK and UZI that allowed them to pray and spray like they had fire hoses without having to do a mag change. When BG #2 was shot, looked like he must have fired at least forty or fiifty shots as he went down.

If their attitude/demeanor looked as if they didn't want to kill anyone but just wanted the money, I'd let them go. Ok, this is vague, and a judgment call that could only be made at the scene.

If, however they got more aggressive, started shooting, etc. then I'd try to work out a plan to shoot back depending on how bad the situation was getting. Again, vague, but I'd rather not start a shootout where I'm outgunned from the get-go with the possiblity of an undercover robber hidden within unless I had to.
