Ha! I shot a 500 S&W just the other day and it wasn't as bad as some 44 mags I've been around. I admit I'm not going to run right out and buy one but it is now on my long list. I think Smith is on to something here.
Biggest I shot was .44 mag in a Cowboy action revolver......
Holy Heck that little skinny grip felt like I was holding a wine glass then, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Darn thing almost jumped outta my hand I don't see how those guys ever hit anything past spittin distance with that recoil , but man was it a hoot to shoot
I used to have a Contender barrel.....10" octagon in .444 Marlin. Very nasty to shoot and I finally traded it off. I guess you could compare it's power to the new S&W .460. I was firing 260 grain cast gas checked bullets at 2000 fps., but the gun only weighed half of what the S&W does.
