Worries with the shield....

Nice! When you get back out to the range, please let us know if the issue is indeed resolved.

Will do!

I am heading home this weekend and will find out just how well it works. I believe it will work great. The spring tension is as it should be. When I got it out to handle/dry fire practice with it today, I couldn't replicate the issue. If I really went out of my way to drop the mag, I could. But I intentionally had to do so. Holding it normally and racking the slide/getting a firing grip, no issues thus far. Going to work with it more tonight. Really excited for the weekend!

I'm happy for you , it's a bummer to find the firearm that fits you just right , first time out problem . Glad S&W corrected & seem to tune it up better then if it didn't have a problem. Now you can enjoy your new firearm . Be Safe out there . Chris

I'm glad they straightened things out for you. The S&W lifetime repair policy and the stories of satisfied owners has put a S&W model at the very top of my "to buy" list.

Let's not derail the thread, folks. I've already had to delete a couple of off-topic posts and don't feel like handing out infractions.

Best news I've had in a long time!
Well, actually that's not true...;).

I hit a $971.00 jackpot on a slot machine this morning.... :).

This is good news though since I do like my Shield a lot.

Glad S&W could fix the issue for you & thanks for keeping us updated!

If the problem isn't fixed try the G43. I have a Shield and G43. Both are excellent. Gotta admit that I like the Shield a tad better. Mainly because in my hand it just fits me better. But I have no intention of getting rid of the 43 I like it too much.

Finally Got to Shoot It!

Went home for the weekend and finally got to put some rounds through the shield. Not. One. Problem. Not dropped magazines, fte's, ftf's, nothing through 50 rounds. Shot fantastic for me and my girlfriend. Very soft shooting, more so than the g43 I shot in the past. I was shooting low and to the right. I think it was me more than the gun. I tend to "milk" the gun when I shoot and it's something I need to practice through. Was spot on for the gf.....can't tell whether to be proud or ashamed. A little of both I guess.

Anyway, after about 2 1/2 months of owning it, my shield is finally fixed and in working order. Thanks for all of you who followed along, I hope this was helpful!

Euro mag release is better
*runs away, throwing obstacles behind him*

Run this way! It doesn't take long to get used to the paddle release. Getting over that hurdle, a lot of people find value in it. The movement required to activate it is in line with the pistol as opposed to perpendicular. Besides feeling more elegant, it frees up space on the grip and is a lot harder to accidentally depress when holstered.

Actually, euro heel type magazine releases are not bad. They are about as fast as conventional magazine releases with practice.

Seven high, what I actually found so funny was Mustey's "runs away, throwing obstacles behind him." I'm not a huge fan of the heel mag release, but I've only ever had one pistol that had one. IMHO, it's fine in a target pistol, but I don't want one in a carry pistol.
