Work outing at the beach...to carry or not?

Alright..the usual? When I go to the beach with my buddies and our girls we are all usually carrying. If some don't wanna go in the water it's on their person if we do it's in a book-bag and a few of us stay by the chairs and stuff anyways. (sand isn't that big a deal, imagine Iraq and Afghanistan.)

Not the usual? My job is extremely anti gun I'm supposedly not allowed to have it in the car...don't they wish I was that stupid and didn't know my laws? :D anyways...Next week on Friday we're apparently having a beach BBQ day and I'm not going to leave it at home or even in the car for that matter. I'm not that close with anyone from work...some know I carry. Maybe...cause of a debate during orientation. Oh well...however my girlfriend is all bubbly and wants to go...she obviously knows I carry and will then too.

My question is this...what would you guys do? I "have" to go...and no one can see this on me at all...

Let's hear it....thanks in advance.

If someone notices you are carrying at an off-site beach party, can you lose your job over it? I assume you have a permit to carry that is valid in your state and you are not violating any laws?

If it were me I'd just leave it at home, but then carrying all the time is not a primary focus of my life. Your priorities are probably different than mine.

I gather you posted a question. I just can't figure out what your question is? What can we do to help you out.

It sounds more like I wish I were in your position and on the beach with a bunch of gals having to go. LOL

Do you need help on the beach with all your beautiful babes or holding your gun while you go?

Do you carry when you're at work? If no, since this is a work outing, I'd leave the gun in the car .

Too much risk for too little reward. Jobs are tough to come by these days...

A place I used to work at put out a memo saying that firearms, and knives with blades longer then 3 inches were no longer allowed on company property, even in your locked car. I challenged that and called the NRA. They gave me the phone number of a pro gun / pro second amendment attorney in my area. This attorney told me that companies have every right to create policies restricting and / or banning firearm possession on company property and at company sponsored activities, even off company property. Laws on this may vary from state to state. But before you “push it” I’d check with the laws in your state. Jobs are hard enough to come by now days, no sense in getting fired over it.

I used to shoot Bullseye Practice every Thursday after work, and it was common for me to have 2 or 3 pistols and 300+ rounds of ammo in my car out in the company parking lot. So I had to start parking in the Moose Lodge parking lot across the street on Thursday's. My boss asked me one day why I parked across the street. I told him what was in my car every Thursday. From that day on, his attitude towards me changed, for the worse.

I've lives here my whole life. I lived on a beach also...it's not "WOW!" to me as it may be to others.

Nay, just work people...we can't bring other people with us or anything. Family, friends. Nothing just work people.

My question is should I carry? I always do and always have since I could. Don't feel right putting it away just for this stupid gathering. My girl wants us to go so bad.

I would say in your condition - you should not carry. Your post almost sound like you have had to much to drink or smoke. Hope I am wrong.

It could just be my perseption and I appologize if I have gotten this all wrong. I have had a very hard day retired and on my lake property.

Dr.StrangeLove and mike38, good points. And wow with the attitude change for the worse....not even going to touch that any further. It could spark up a whole different debate.

So your vote is to just leave it in the car? Florida became a "take your gun to work" state I believe in July of 2008 so that concealed weapon holders may practice their second amendment right on their commute to and from work. So regardless of what they tell me I still bring it to work locked away in my glove box. They can't fire me for suspicion alone. If that was the case I'd of been fired a long time ago. If I make it obvious or show it or speak of it that's different. They can call the authorities and it's game over. I'll be fired but not arrested.

Uuuuuuuuuuuuh...????

There's a million things wrong with your post. Sorry to let you down. All wrong.

What was your point of commenting?

Yep, I'd leave it in the car.

As far as company policy about what's in my car, I'll thank them to keep their nose out of my private life. Unless I work on a govt installation, my employer isn't going to search my car. I'll keep what I want in my vehicle, keep it out of sight, and not talk about it at work.

(You may can tell that employers restricting what I can have in my own private vehicle is a hot button for me.)

If you can not make this kind of decission on your own; why should you be allowed to carry and make the decission whether to use a gun or not.

It just does not make sense to me. I do not think you are capable of prudent judement. God Help Us. Just my honest opinion.

Please think about what I am saying in response to your post. It may save a life.

First of all.....

you're all dancing around an issue that should be obvious to all of you.

In your signature list of firearms, I see no reference to a true "BBQ" gun in there anywhere.

If you show up to a BBQ carrying anything less than this, you're probably gonna get sand kicked in your face and your girlfriend will, without a doubt, leave with someone else.

It is not "if you carry or not".....but if someone sees it, it better be a REAL "BBQ gun....or else.

Dr.StrangeLove :) thank you, that make sense. I guess I'll just leave it in the car. It's that the area of biscayne bay has gotten kind of bad down here lately. It's a drive on beach. So car isn't too far away anyways

Lamar...grow up, it's a gun forum. Don't know if you knew that or not? But that's what we talk about. Funny how via Internet you feel you're hard when in person you wouldn't speak to me that way.

No judgement? Contradiction much? Immature of you to say all that you're saying based in only ONE post, asking a pretty serious question. You comments are just bashing and unnecessary and quite frankly you just have a chip on your shoulder and found a punching bag. Be a man and go find a real one to hit.

Sir, I appologize if I took you wrong. I do not think so. I am not looking for a punching bag. I am not the macho seaking type.

I am 64 years old and a diabled veteran from Nam. I have seen more action than you and I either would ever want to be confronted with.

A gun is a matter of very serious consideration. The permit is not a right taken lightly. It is a right we should all take with the upmost thought as to what we are allowed to be responsible for.

You are more than welcome to come visit me. I will harbor no resentment and will shake your hand. I am not your enemy or adversary. I just ask you to think on your own. Best Regards.

BBQ guns are the same as your "sunday go to meeting" clothes. Your very best.

In the southwest, they often become the most popular topic at a BBQ, kinda who can out do who with the finest piece of hardware. They often only have two guns, a working gun and a BBQ gun.:D

If that all holds true. I understand now.

But to tell someone you don't know that they are too stupid to carry for a question on a gun forum is a little far fetched. Regardless of who saw what and when. I understand if I sweeped a whole room of people or did an accidental discharge. Same way I did not know you are a veteran of Vietnam (if it holds true, which I believe) you do not know what I have seen or done either. Being in the middle east and discharged from the police department (not negatively, medical issue that's not bad anymore just bad timing).

I like to think of everyone as my father on here. Until I get bashed for nothing. We know nothing about anyone else and even when we do we can't believe it. Grain of salt if you will.

Bottom line. Not a good way to come at someone.

Anyways, thank you for your service and God bless.

Jedi, that sounds awesome too. Also very expensive. Must admit though. I'd like me a BBQ gun. Even though this thread is about a different kind of gun to be carried in this BBQ.
