Words to consider

Obviously false. The Roman did not use drums of any type in their republican military units. They had no "drums of war" to beat!

Mike-
I think, perhaps, we heard his last words: "So, it isn't proven Caesar wrote it, or disproven."

Translation:
"You can't prove the non-existence of the non-existent. Therefore it exists, if I say it does."

Here's some latin for you:

I posted a quote from the editorial column of a sunday paper and you started acting like I had tried to swindle your grandmother out of her life savings.... it was just a quote, it didn't come with a lifetime guarantee. GET OVER IT. The only problem here is that I ripped some flesh off when I caught you "non sequitur"-ing some poor schlub to grandstand and I proved you wrong... GET OVER IT.

And for the record:

Opinions that don't agree with yours are not automatically invalid.... and therfore can't be used to automatically disprove conclusions.... assuming they are the actual conclusions that the poster is claiming, not one you pulled out of thin air to make fun of. Premises which are some part opinion can be false or true depending on the support, and usually not all agree on the validity. Your problem is you think that anytime somebody says something you don't like, it must be false. Shocker for you there.

So consider that before you reach for the non sequitur shovel and start slinging.

Then why am I the one that's proudly posting the link? :D

I'm gonna explain this to you once, OK?

We have Four Simple Rules for Membership on this Forum.

Rule Four clearly states:
4) As we can never convey a philosophy through a few rules, we reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to edit or delete posts and/or to revoke Membership. No Second Chances; No Argument; No Trial; No Way. At best you will receive one warning.
Your thread was a simple drive-by of an election issue that was well hashed out nearly two years ago. That's why it was closed. Posting a 20 month old op-ed piece as news wastes my bandwidth. (Yes, 'tis mine.) It's also boring, intellectually slothful and, well, simply rude.

Now I know you're not happy about the fact that it's me who gets to enforce Rule 4, but don't you worry yourself into a dither.....that's why they pay me the big bucks....for my judgment.

As to the rest of your objection: I've been around TFL a bit longer than you. My track record for honest dialogue is a bit better documented than yours; though yours is certainly more, ummm, "consistent" than mine. ;)

Lastly, I'm going to ask you one last time. DO NOT attempt to hijack threads from their original subject solely for personal reasons.....in fact, don't do it for any reason. If you have a problem with me or the TFL Staff we are each available by PM or email.

There's no need to respond here as there's nothing to discuss. Thank you for your cooperation and, in future, Think Twice - Post Once.

Rich,
I could have reduced it to, "the second half of what Bergwerk said" ... but it would have meant more typing ... darn, now I am really tired :D

"Leaders of nations have been known throughout history to use whatever subterfuge works in order to make the great unwashed masses willing to die for the cause."

Good thing American possesses the vast majority of bathtubs in the world. No unwashed masses here.

Thanks Lak. That at least makes more sense. The "coulda been Goering; Mighta been Machiavelli" parts were a bit surreal in light of the opening bit of Urban Myth.
