Woohoo! Got my new Enfield. Now I'm in cosmoline hell.

444,

I don't spray it on. What I do is clean off as much as possible with rags. Once done I soak it in pure "Simple Green". It removes pretty much everything. Be sure to oil up the gun afterwards. I never heard of "Purple Power". Who sells it? Got the "Simple Green" from the local Home Depot.

I got the purple power from the auto parts store. Chief I think. I read about it on one of these boards, it might have been milsurpshooter.com

I took my No.1 Mk.III out for the first time today. It is kind of unusual in that it is unissued and dated 1962. It is an Ishapore, in .303. It is a real shooter. I fired a handload consisting of the Remington 180 gr. RN in new Remington brass and 38.0 grains of 4895 loaded with a Lee Loader. I only fired about 15 rounds since it was really hot out, but about my third three shot group, I said, those all felt really good. The group was less than an inch at 100 yards and right on the button where I was holding. I am really excited about it.
I also got some stuff today from Gun Parts Inc. including the bayonet for my No.4, MK 1. Looks good. I am thinking about displaying these milsurps on the wall. I am worried about theft, but I long ago ran out of room in my safe, so they are just leaning against the wall anyway.
