I agree with many of the posters here. Wood looks and feels great, but I prefer rubber grips when I'm shooting. I hold onto the wood grips, but my wheelguns wear Pachs. The woods go on for pictures.

For me and IMHO,

Wood = looks
Rubber = function

My wife and I go to the range at least twice a month.

She had me replace the wood grips on her Model 60 with Hogues because she hated the way the wood felt. She is much more comfortable shooting with the Hogues.

As far as concealment and draw, she practices pulling the pistol out of her purse and has no problem with the larger rubber grips snagging, and she is much more confident with the Hogues which is VERY important.

My GP100 6" came with both...wood insert and rubber grip..I may go with some larger grips in the future (I have large hands) but for now they are fine.

I'm quoting MostToysWins: "Wood = looks
Rubber = function"

Great way to put it. That was the whole point of my poll. That to me is very true. Thanks

I went to the range with my son Saturday morning and I brought my new S&W mod. 60 LS with a 3" bbl and beautiful wood grips. 2 boxes of .38 went smooth but when I switched to .357, there was one heck of a difference in recoil !!!
Then I shot his mod. 60 3" with hogue rubber grips and it felt like I was shooting .38s. when I was shooting full mags.
I just like the looks of wood better, but if I was going to have a full day at the range, I have to vote for rubber.

I prefer rubber for shooting (because of sweaty hands and hot loads) but prefer wood for CCW.
Wood grips let the cover garment slide back and forth over them and are not so bad about printing.....

Wood for all revolvers up to and including .44magnum.

Anything more than that (.480, .50AE, .454) requires some shock absorption that rubber grips provide. Wood looks better and for me handles better.

My redhawk was downright abusive with the stock wooden grips that came with it and I almost got rubber grips to fix it. I ended up getting hogue hardwood grips that fit my hand perfectly.

It wasn't the wood that was hurting me, it was the grip angle and design. Now that I hold the gun in a way that fits my hand, I can shoot 50+ rounds of .44mag in a session. Anything more than that and I get muscle fatigue (not bone pain or finger pinch pain, just recoil muscle fatigue).

The grip on a handgun is your only (!) connection with the gun. If it fits your hand well you might have a better chance of shooting well. If it doesn't.......

Some rubber gris fit me well but they are butt ugley on a nice blued gun. I generally like a nice wood grip suited to the guns purpose.
