1953 S&W K-22 Masterpiece

Well, apart from the Nox-Rust paper, and with a lot of help and advice from the S&W Forum members, I completed the set today!
Pistol, box, Helpful Hints brochure, sight adjustment tool, and cleaning tools.

It's a shooter and not a museum piece, but it's all there finally.

What a great hobby!

Very nice. Attractive presentation... gives me the warm-Irish Setter-by-the-fire-&-a-single-malt-scotch-fuzzies.

Now, where's my 1954 Herters catalog at? ;)

Yessir, they did but the shafts and fittings were all brass.

Aluminum cleaning rod handles after WWII.

When you said a set, and then I saw a K-22, I wondered if you meant....
The K series set, K-22, K-32 and K-38. I'm short the K-32, as most people are.

Very nice gun. In case you don't know, that screw driver sells for $100.

Reminds me of one of my favorites...

ohhh....nice box!

Sorry you didn't like my gun :p Be happy you have "a" box. Yours really isn't bad to my eye. These gold boxes are sought after.

I think K-22s are the finest 22 revolver made (esp domestic). The only other gun to me is the Colt OM and later OMM. Those are great too.

just messin' with ya! :)

First thing I noticed was the gorgeous case hardening on that hammer and trigger!

And ya just gotta LOVE a little holster wear on a muzzle.

It's just so right!

shhhhhh, don't tell anyone......mine has just as much muzzle wear (and more on the cylinder!), but a little touch of Van's cold blue is like light makeup. ;)

the cylinder lock wasn't machined smoothly, but that got FIXED!

thanks!

we're gradually getting there

a little more "correct" for 1953

Now that you got the base ford mustang, time to look for the boss, mach 1, shelby, GT, etc :p

There are a lot of S&W 22s to collect, (not even mentioning the 22 mags)

22/32 bekeart, 22/32 kit gun (pre war, post war pre model, model 34, 43), kit gun target aka model 35, K-22 outdoorsman, k-22/40 (scarce), k22 post war transitional (scarce), k-22 4 screw pre model number, k22 4 screw model 17 no dash, k22 5 screw model 17 (scarce), 17-2 8 3/8. Then a S&W model 46...and on and on....You got a good start...just keep goin!

thanks!

I need a correct bore brush and a sheet of the correct Nox-Rust paper. :)

Early Nox-Rust paper is a like a '69 Boss 429.

Hello Winchester73
The K-Frame Master Piece Trio is sought after by Many but seldom completed. That said, I completed mine a couple of years ago. All of mine are Pre-Model stamped Five screw variation revolvers. Here is the Masterpiece Trio I spoke of...and they are all within Five years of each other as far as shipping dates go. Hammer It

Hammer It,

Nice guns, as usual. Haven't seen you around these parts for a long time. Last I heard a guy shot you at a card game in Dodge, but I knew you were never the cheatin' type. ;)

On top of this post war K frame set (I remember you posting it originally) you actually are one of the very few people to have the pre war K frame target set, although I never saw you post a pre war M&P 38 target. Might as well post that trio too, if you got them all. I know you have a sweet K-22 outdoorsman. Most of us rarely see a K-32 1st model aka pre war K-32 hand ejector. What a special S&W to have...

Just last week a friend of mine walked into a little hole in the wall gunshop in Southern Virginia and came across a VERY nice condition 1962 Model 16.

For $529.

I just about cried.
