With 19 of 67 counties in Florida reporting, Bush is up by 1743

Per MSNBC.com
http://www.msnbc.com/news/466882_asp.htm?0cm=c10

29 of 67 counties recounted so far Bush is up by 790.

The recount included figures from Palm Beach County. This also includes the 19,000 ballots nullified from Palm Beach due to the fact that multiple candidates were selected.

Edit=From Fox News

With 32 of Florida's 67 counties completing their recounts, George W. Bush's lead over Al Gore has been reduced by 843 votes late Wednesday, with just 941 votes now separating the two in the crucial state tally that will determine the nation's 43rd president.

Notice what they DIDN'T say? That the numbers had actually changed in any of the precincts that had been recounted? That could be sloppy journalism, (Or an attempt to build excitement by misleading people!) or it could mean that this is just a matter of Gore precincts reporting back earlier during the recount than Bush precincts. If it means the latter, the end number isn't going to change.

No, wait, I see from that chart that some of the numbers are changing, in Gore's favor. You don't suppose they'd be gutsy enough to rig ballots in the middle of a recount, do you? Well, I suppose they might, given the stakes!

I need to see a map of these counties to overlay the results. It looks like Broward & Miami-Dade are done, and Gore has not caught up yet. If thes rest of the counties left are the ones Bush won the first time around, I think it's over.

Does anyone else find it disturbing that these numbers are changing at all ?? Where are these 'lost' or miscounted votes coming from ??? I'm not accusing one party or the other, I'm saying if we are getting different counts in every precinct, the system is broken.

How scary is it that this race is as we speak being decided by friggin PUNCH CARD READERS

You would have thought the inventor of the internet would have upgraded the voting system years ago.

Yes. Last night they had a Florida election official announcing his results. I think it was Dade. He said that they were counting the absentee ballots received yesterday.

My sentiments exactly, RH. When I heard this morning that over 1000 votes had been found for Gore, I thought "how many other places across the country 'lose' thousands of votes?". What kind of morons (or worse...) are running this show?

Makes me wonder about the whole shooting match.

Although this probably doesn't amount to a hill of beans. It looks like the remaining 35 counties are Strongly Republican, Republican lean, or Slight Demo lean. The only thing I can hope is that means a great chance of finding Bush voters over Gore votes.

Bush's Jay Baker vs W. Chistopher and 50 lawyers. What should Jay Baker say--' CHARGE !!!!! '

I sincerely doubt Mr. Baker is alone, or undergunned. And, I hope he and his troops don't give an inch ... and, his reputation is that he is one tough SOB.

It is long past time we got tough with these liberal bast**ds.

Holy cripes! 5 seconds after my last post it is now down to 341! This is getting gruesome! Where the hell are all these Gore votes coming from??????????

Orange just came in, according to CNN.

Lead is down to 341, but the rest of the counties originally voted pro-Bush. What's likely causing the numbers to increase is that the little tabby thingies (technical term, of course...) on some of the ballots don't get completely punched out, and end up showing as "didn't vote" until the machine/handling causes 'em to be knocked out.

I _was_ surprised that so many more votes were "found" for Gore than for Bush...

If the votes are recounted by hand in four counties, and these counties voted heavily for Gore, we will see more Gore votes, since all the dangling little pieces of paper haven't fallen off yet.
