winchester 257 roberts ??????

Think I got it figured out:

USRAC (United States Repeating Arms Corp.) was formed and continued manufacturing Winchester brand rifles and shotguns under license from Olin Corp. on 7-20-1981. This final year of Olin production saw a new "XTR Featherweight". But very few actually made it to the dealers shelves before USRAC took over.

The only way to tell is the serial number and butt pad.

So I got the last of the post 64-pre USRAC Featherweights.

It's probably worth a mint compared to the regular USRAC featherweights. I have been after a Win M70 in .257 for a while but, no one who owns one seems willing to part with it. Don't really know why I need it, I have the "standard" M70 in .243 but "wants" aren't always logical.

Yeah, the same way you posted those other pictures.

That's a sweet looking rifle you got there. Planning any trips to Georgia any time soon? I'd ditch that Bushnell scope though, it's devaluing your rifle really bad. :)

lol border police might have a say in that one lol what would someone ask for a price on this i wa thinking like 825 but i dont know its in good shpe and its a good rifle

I really couldn't say. My blue book is from '96 and it says in 100% condition $435 with a slight premium for the Win marked recoil pad but, I wouldn't go on that. Maybe someone has a little newer book and can give a better estimate. If I had to guess, being they only made that model in that caliber for 5 years and it has the Winchester marked pad, and it appears to be in excellent condition, I really hate to say but, I wouldn't let it go for less that $850 if it were mine. Of course I wouldn't let it go at all if it were mine. It may be worth more than that, or possibly less, it's really hard to say.

I found one that sold in Ohio for $750 and was new in box so $850 may be a little high, starting to think more in the $650-$700 range and that is if those sights can be safely removed without damage to the finish.

257 Fthrwt--LOVE IT

Good threat, made me happy to read it. Bought a 25 Roberts Featherweight new in 1981. 50-gr 4350 pushes 100-gr bullets pretty good, and case life is good too (I anneal and trim after 5 loadings). Fairly accurate for a light rifle, shoots better than I do out to 300+. Shot well over 100 deer (mulies and w.t.) and antelope, and even a few bull elk I bumped into while mulie hunting. Light to carry while hiking over the Montana hills. Light recoil too--my daughter's first rifle and also several other new hunters. Mine also has the Winchester red butt pad, so maybe they weren't so rare in '81. No open sights though.
