Win 1300 Defender Mag Lockup

Repetition become habit - habit becomes faith.

Under timed drills and under stress is when gun fit, the inability to reach controls, and not being able to mount to face - comes to light. Not to mention if the gun don't fit - shooter won't hit.

I LIKE this.

This has got to be the best way to describe the positive effects of good training I have ever read, anywhere! Thus, this to me is the bottom line: It doesn't matter what kind of shotgun you have--as long as you practice, practice, practice with it in the way described in this most EXCELLENT post, you will be well prepared indeed.

I believe I will take this advice to heart, and start practicing a lot more with my shotgun. Heaven knows I need it!

One of the best things I ever read about shotgun training was by Navy SEAL Chief James "Patches" Watson.

Watson had the first Model 37 Ithaca shotgun ever made with an extended magazine and the famed "Duckbill" shot spreader attachment.

Watson and another SEAL took the guns to Vietnam and make extensive use of them.

Watson said he and the other SEAL practiced loading and operating the guns until their hands literally bled.

He said that they got to the point that the guns just seemed to operate and reload themselves with no thought from them.

That may be an extreme case, but it takes about 5000 repetitions to ingrain an action into reflex action.

When we say, "Learn how to use your gun" we're talking about things like ingraining operations into muscle memory.

The old line "You fight like you train" holds true.

I prefer simple. Simpler the better.

Some folks like the longer versions, Reality is - we have all read /have heard something and didn't catch something. We read/ hear the same again - and pick up something we did not before.

What is more important is not "how" you get the pair of britches on - is the fact you put the britches on period.

Left leg first, right leg first - or "Firehouse" - both at the same time. :D

Tips:
-Never ever bet against the person or be cautious shooting against a person with a worn out gun case, zipper missing or broke, and the gun held in the case with luck, and rawhide.

-Said person has moleskin on the comb

-Said person has a dirty pinky finger

-Said person keeps trigger hand thumb on same side of stock - NOT over the stock.

-Person has removed safety on purpose.

-Gun has worn bluing, and lots of "character".

;)

If you meet such a person, buy them a soda and get to know them. Listen and become a friend of thiers.

Trust me, of this I know very very well.

<turned out pockets - nothing but lint and seams showing>
