Willie Nelson busted in Louisiana

It was a misdemeanor possesion because there was 1 1/2 pounds (24 oz) of marijuana which 5 people pled guilty too owning which means it was 4.8 oz of marijuana for each person. This falls below the threshold for a felony intent to distibute amount. There was only 2-3 oz of mushrooms.

Real convienient how that worked out for Willie. I still say a common man would have went to jail.
 
Let's get out facts straight here! It wasn't Klinton with Willie on the White House roof; it was Willie on the White House roof during the Carter years. Willie and Carter were/are big buddies. Carter sometimes appeared on stage with Willie during Willie's concerts.

Don't know about amounts, relative to charges, but I do know that possession of some quanities of marijuana is against federal law, which applies even to states like Alaska and Kalifornia. :)

I'm just curious to know why the LA LEO's stopped him in the first place. And I'd like to know what probable cause (aside from a "smell" ) was justification to search an entire tour bus. And, knowing the typical LA LEO type, why didn't Willie just "encourage" the officer to forget about it (and receive a few autographed $20's in return).... ;)

Seems to me some cajun po-boys wanted to make a name for himself... :rolleyes:
 
I agree that it's ugly when a rich man gets away with stuff that a poor man would burn for.

But the law itself is bad and wrong in this case.

What harm does a stoned Willie Nelson do to anyone else? Is he robbing people to support his habit? Collecting welfare? Starving his children, beating his wife, kicking his dog? No?

If and when he harms other people, throw the book at him. Otherwise leave him (and everyone else who decides to 'enhance' their perceptions of the world) alone. As long as no one else is harmed, let 'em go to hell in their own ways.

I heard the story this morning on the radio. They said they found 1 and a half pounds of pot and half a pound of shrooms. The radio dj said 7 people were tickited, the amount was devided between those 7 people resulting in misdomeaners for each of them. Yeah they did cut them alot of slack by not hauling him in, but hell Willie makes the government alot of money in taxes by touring.
 
9mmsnoopy, I totally agree with you but then it is a well known fact that if you have the Political Clout, the Media Clout, the Movie Fame, or simply the Finances, you can get away with anything in the world you want to get away with, we have two Senators in the Congress that should have served time one for involuntary Manslaughter, and one for Treason, yet they still serve Mass. Many Movie Stars have been busted for posesion and use of controlled substances, and they mostly go to rehab, our National Sports Figures Use drugs and for the most part get a free pass,

Basically what I'm saying is the Law is not equal for all.

Ron Paul for Prez, Tancredo for Vice and Willie Nelson secretary of Agri-Culture and Hulk Hogan for Sect of Defense, Ted Nugent for BATF, Chris Simcox for border control and Robbie Noel for Secretary of the Treasurer, and Kinky for Texas Gov. The first time La. law sounds fair, but I'm sure Boss Hog got the stuff.
