Willie Nelson busted in Louisiana

Good ole Willie's tour bus was stopped on I-10 this morning on a "routine" commercial vehicle inspection. While talking to the driver the cops caught a strong whiff of marijauna so of course they did a search which turned up a pound and a half of weed and some wacky mushrooms.

Nelson and 4 others were issued citations and were free to go on down the road.

I dont proclaim to know La. law, but im quite sure that getting caught with that much pot is definately going to result in a trip to the local jail where you will face felony charges in any state in the nation.

I like Willie, but this business of cutting celebrities slack and alot of it, is out of control. I would be willing to bet that the average joe blow gets caught in La. with a couple of joints in the ashtray will be getting arrested.

this has to do with guns how????

However, before the lock, let me say that he's being charged with a misdemeanor. It was on our 5:00 news.

Springmom

Springmom, I know this has been covered before. The L&P forum is not just about guns. News of drug arrests of the rich and famous may or may not be a reasonable subject for L&P, but the observation that this thread is not related to guns is unhelpful.

Well, all I can say is thank GAWD for Teh Feerless Drug Warriors, keepin' us'ns safe from them drug-smokin' old hippies!

Roll another one - just like the other one..

A Toby Kieth's rendition " I'll never smoke weed with Willie agian...;) "

Bwhahahahaha

12-34hom.

Oh, I don't know springmom, but isn't there something telling about our system of law enforcement when the celebrity is not being thrown in jail for an offense you or I would have been? Justice may be blind, but apparently LE (in LA.) isn't.

In Ohio, where I work, a pound-and-a-half of weed is a minor misdemeanor. It takes a lot of pot to constitute a trafficking charge. However, the shrooms would be a felony as they are classified as a higher schedule drug (i.e. more serious).

If yer a rich man, ya get away with anything, even murder...
Look at OJ
Look at Beretta
Look at Shatner and on and on.

Willie's been smokin' with the best. Even with Klinton on the white house roof he says. I wonder how much stash and cash the cop has now?????

Doubletaptap...

Think good ole Willie gave the cops a portion of his stash for their enjoyment?:D :D :D (No offense to any LEOs just making a really sophomoric joke.) As Wild Alaska said, it's legal up there. Crazyfornia, fairly okay with it, Colorado for the most part doesn't give a crap if it's for a few grams. Guess it shows that the myths about weed are crumbling slowly.

I too am surprised to NOT see this

Please support http://www.mpp.org if you believe in liberty. Nevada has an AWESOME prop on the ballot this november. It will end prohibition and tax/regulate marijuana. Why is it so hard to pass common sense? Oh that's right, because the federal gods oppose it :barf:  :barf:

Shatner was, as far as I know, never a suspect in the death of his wife (she drowned). I believe her death was ruled an accident. It's a smear to imply he killed her, alongside O.J. and Robert Blake.

Shatner is a drunk who killed his wife.
It's a free world.

I beleive it was his wife Nerine who was the alcoholic. She had been to the Betty Ford Clinic and had checked herself into a detox center May 31st of that year. She drowned in the pool at home listed as a contributing factor on her death certificate was alchohol-diazepam intoxication.

It was a misdemeanor possesion because there was 1 1/2 pounds (24 oz) of marijuana which 5 people pled guilty too owning which means it was 4.8 oz of marijuana for each person. This falls below the threshold for a felony intent to distibute amount. There was only 2-3 oz of mushrooms.
