Will GW find a good fit for Alan Keyes?

How bout

Head of the FCC? Then he can police those whiny bastards in the media, esp when license renewal comes up...

I don't believe the Republicans have the guts to put Keyes in an important position. He's too outspoken and uncompromising, in his beliefs about personal liberties and the Constitution, for the Republican Party leadership to accept.

I voted for Keyes in the Virginian Primaries... I like him. However I seriosly doubt G.W. willappiont him to anything other than a possible abassadorial post to a far off nation. Bush wants to build support to keep his foolish promises to the public. He does not want to end up like his father by backtracking on his tax cut pledges.

This means he will defuse tensions as much as possible ( i.e. his visit to the White house).

P.S. I think his tax cut is foolish because the current system needs to be done away with, and a flat tax put in instead.

Dream on folks. Keyes will not get any position in the administration. George Bush values loyalty above all. Keyes is too much of an iconoclastic idealist who speaks his mind. The last thing a president wants is an appointee who makes news by saying what people don't want to hear.

No Way

Any public appearences would become "Secretary of fill in the blank Alan Keyes and President What's-His-Name."
Keyes would make Bush look like Alfred E. Neuman.

I'm with USP45. I've been saying "Keyes for SCOTUS" for a long time (search here if you don't believe me).

That said, it's a pipe dream, I don't think it could ever happen.

How about head of HHS? Health and Human Services. Might be a good spot, if he would take it. Or, maybe ambassador to the U.N.

Keyes had some unkind comments about Dubya during the campaign. So if he is appointed to a cabinet post it will speak REALLY LOUD VOLUMES about Bush's character. Based on what I've seen thus far, Bush will do what is necessary to get the very best person for the job in spite of what was said in the past.

That said, I'd love to have the snack concessions in a press conference when Dubya appoints Keyes as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. HUD is the spawning ground for welfarism, socialism, elitism, and is the power base for ultra-liberal (re: fascists) like Andrew Cuomo and his ilk. The entertainment value would far exceed that of a fully loaded satellite dish.

then Dubya could appoint Thomas Sowell as white house spokesman. That's what we call a shark in a goldfish bowl.

amen IZZY !!

Amen Izzy...

but...

Our current tax system is unconstitutional. The GOV is supposed to generate monies from excise/tariff/consumption tax. The 16th Amendment wasn't even fully ratified by the states.

Alan Keyes knows this. So does Otto Skiner..check out his web site (cases won which the press never reveal):

others too....

I love Alan. I wish I lived next door to Alan.

But...let's face it: He scares the bejesus out of the soccer crowd. The far too many simpletons in this country would call 911 if they came within 50 feet of Alan.

It's not a case of Alan being incompetent. It's a case of him being too competent.

A Case of Too Much Competence

Bunkster

Whenever competence becomes a detriment, its opposite becomes an asset, and things get worse, rather than better.

Until the USA as a whole values excellence and breaks its addiction to mediocrity, we will continue to decay.

Keyes is no moderate...

Dubya is surrounding himself with moderate nitwits with a few exceptions. (Token Conservatives?) What does this tell us about GW...is he also a moderate nitwit? It's really starting to look like it to me. Presidents always seem to associate politically with like-minded people. It's the only way anything "gets done". Just look at Klinton: His cabinet looks more like the cast from the New Hollywood Squares than a group of competent government officials. But things do "get done" albeit the wrong things, and the media stooges are always there to tell us that we should all be wetting ourselves over all the great things these big headed misfits are doing.

I think Alan Keyes wouldn't accept a job in Dubya's cabinet, even in the unlikely event he was offered one. He isn't a moderate nitwit by any stretch, and would make life difficult for the new gang of touchy-feely Republican do-gooders about to take the reigns. I can't see why he would set himself up for that kind of frustration.

And while I’m ranting on the subject, I don't have very high hopes for the new administration doing one damn thing that will make me sleep better at night. We're on a very slippery slope as far as our Constitutional Liberties are concerned, and the most I expect from Dubya is a four year run with a sanding truck, and nothing more. It will be a very pleasant surprise if I’m wrong, but I’m not holding my breath!

Anybody that thinks our western civilization isn't in a state of decline is not paying attention. The only thing that will stop it is a landslide of conservative minded officials in the White House, in the Congress and in the Courts who understand the fundamental principles of Liberty and who have the guts to do what needs to be done to restore them!

It's been well over 200 years since we last did our laundry. Personally, I'm getting really tired of the smell!

Regards,
SM
