Wife is in labor!!Need Independence Day firearm suggestions

What a treasure it would be that whatever gun you choose to buy, it is done with the intentions of this gun being given to your child when it gets older.

Maybe a 1911 with engraving under the grips stating the date and saying something special to your new child.

Congrats to you and the wife.

Its a boy!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!

May I second or third or whatever the suggestion of buying a gun with the intention of giving it to your son at an appropriate age and marking it with engraving commemorating this date?

You may send my cigar by USPS, FedEx in not necessary ;)

I had not even thought of engraving it till you folks mentioned it; its a perfectly fitting idea. Truly. Thanks again.

Still leaning towards a marksmanship building rifle for daddy's newest gunslinger;) Hes gotta learn to walk before he can run, right?:p

Might I suggest a Ruger 77/22?

Uh oh..... My local shop has a LNIB USFA .45 with walnut birdshead grips....Ive got a thing for birdshead grips....they're asking $1100.
Ill show my dealer some pics of the placenta/afterbirth; see if I can get a few bucks knocked off;)

Vt.birdhuntrer, Congratulations on the new family member!!
ASFA .45 sounds really nice too. Your baby's name scrrolled down the backstrap would look cool too! And those things have beautyfull blueing to boot.

Needed some good news.

You put a smile on a 'seasoned' fella's face. :D:D:D

Again...CONGRATULATIONS to you and the wife.

While engraving don't forget to add important dates to your engraving. Trust me, they'll be special in years to come.

Congratulations!! I have to say I absolutely love this post... And I'll have to side with the idea of a 1911, Nothing says America quite like a 1911 in a .45.

I had not gone as far as thinking Colt 1911 but YES that would be the one. I'd get grips with Babies Name and Birthdate laser etched on them!! :D

WWII or WWI era Colt 1911.

Garand - can't go wrong there.

Ruger Mark I or Mark II (freedom-era Rugers), or Colt Woodsman - then you can use it with your little boy or girl in a few years.

If you really want to go all out, then get a Smith Enterprise M1A.

1st Generation Colt SAA in 44-40 or .45

"Wyatt" scrolled on the slide would like dog-gone cool. Maybe his birthstone somewhere? If it's got white-dot sights, you could replace them with the stone...

Vt.birdhunter, look into S&W laser engraving. I remember seeing it some where on the web site. It'll match the rest of the guns laser engraving.

And again congrats!:)

May I suggest either an Ithaca Model 37 or a much loved pre-'64 Model 70 in .270 or .30-06?

Get him in to the hunting groove!

Many many congrats and all the best to the you, your good lady and especially the new arrival!
