Wife ever stole your pistol? Your story...

The solution is simple and I'm amazed none of you have discovered it before; buy her a duplicate or near duplicate of what you have. My wife and I both carry Ruger SR9Cs daily. She has a Mossberg 590A1 with ghost ring sights, nine shot, adjustable stock (a wedding gift from me), and I have a beloved old Maverick 88 six shot with many add-ons. Yes, the 88 is nowhere near the gun the 500 series is but we both have 9mm handguns, we both have 12 gauge pumps and we are building matching his and hers ARs.

By carrying the same handgun we share magazines, ammunition, parts, holsters, etc. The ammunition for the scatterguns is the same and is pooled as well. See how this works?

We have his and hers matching .22 Brownings. When not going to the backup Ruger because we've broken one again we're a definite matched pair.
If I had to do over now I'd probably go with the wife's Beretta Storm for CC vs. my Kimber (but of course no such existed when I bought my Kimber). I really like it and she can blast rapid fire like a machine pistol with it.

Luckily my wife doesn't like semi auto handguns so those are safe (so far).
We bought her a Rough Rider 22lr/22mag that she has not even been able to shoot yet. We found out she was pregnant before she got the chance to. I guess one could say I stole it from her because I have put some rounds through it. Had to make sure it worked right.. :D

Since she got pregnant I have purchased a couple pistols and a semiauto rifle. I guess we will see what happens with those once the baby comes and she can shoot again.

Lucky for me she is very recoil sensitive and very petite so most of my guns are too much for her. Like a dummy though I am trying to work on her trying to become proficient with them in the event that she NEEDS to use any gun we have.

What she really wants is a stainless (or something shiny, her words) revolver with pearl/ivory grips. She wants it engraved and all pretty looking. I would probably get some use out of it too. Who knows I may become a revolver guy after all. But man those guns are pricey. She sure has expensive tastes..

Springfield XD forced adoption

Yeah, I bought my wife a 1911 not all that long ago. She claimed it was her favorite weapon, but then she shot my XD. She'd never shot one. Now, I can't have it back.

My wife loved my Gen4 Glock 17 so I asked if she wanted one. She replied that she thought the 19 was a better size for her. Okay... I bought her a 19. Well, she's shot it a good bit but it's had some issues and gone back to Glock a couple times for warranty service. So, she just said to me one day, "The Glock 17 is mine now."

Well I guess that settles that! :D

Wasn't my wife, it was my mother. My father died 2 years ago leaving mom with his 1911 as a house gun, she use to shoot it with him at his gun club all the time till the arthritis in her wrist made it hurt to much. Last Christmas she was visiting and saw the S&W model 10 with a 3 inch barrel I was then carrying and wanted to go shoot it. Long story shortened, when I took her home after her stay with us my model 10 when with her and lives at her house now.

I don't have a problem with the wife trying to take my guns. She is ok with me having and carrying them ( unless it is Church ) . But my wife will not touch any of them . And as far as me buying them we discussed that if I have the money to afford a new one I will be bringing it home. And my places of escape from the home ( where she will not want to go ) are a gun show ( except if it is in another big city ) or going to the gun range. I just wish I could afford to go to both more often.

rodfac,

I must have known these rules already, as that is how my Colt came home with me.....

And I just bought a Dan Wesson she does not yet know about......My couch is extra comfy.

An I did learn quick, I bought her a Mossberg 500 police model, and I have to ask every time to shoot it.....same with the Taurus .38 snub I wanted to CCW. She always asks what I am doing with HER guns.

I lost my Ruger P345 that way. Bought for me, but same was quickly "appropriated" by her, and now it serves as her HD piece when I'm not home. She does at least allow me to clean it for her, though.:(

A while back I bought a nice condition CZ 82. First range trip with it I took my wife and she loved it. After the first mag she fired, she turned to me and said: "you can never sell this thing." Basically been hers ever since. It just fit her well and she enjoyed shooting it.

Girlfriend decided that her SP101 didn't hold enough rounds for carry, so even though her nickname is "Revolver Girl", she shot a bunch of my 9s at the range last weekend. I think I have lost my SR9.
I suggested a trade for the SP101, but she says she is emotionally attached to it.

When I met my wife she had a Colt Mustang 380. When we started living togather I was on the road alot and she wanted something bigger. We went to the gunshow and she settled in on a Sig P239 40. After several years of carrying that, we were at the range one day and she asked to shoot my gun. It was a Glock 26. Well she fell in love with it and I didn't make it home with it. Now she has snagged my LCP. The problem is that she won't ever sell a gun so they are all in my safe. So the 239 was a gift to her, and she stole the G26 and the LCP.

I purchased a new Ruger MKII Target 512 a few years back - but, I had always had problems with it stovepiping so I rarely shot it.
Couple years ago I had taken the Ruger out of the safe & was considering selling or trading it. Instead I decided maybe it was worth keeping and ordered an Exact extractor from Volquartsen and a set of wood thumb-rest grips from Ruger.
The extractor made all the difference. No stovepiping, shoots like a laser, and the grips are so comfortable they feel custom made. Naturally, the MKII makes many more trips to the range/plinking so the wife gets interested, shoots it, likes it, & decides (especially since it matched her 10/22) that she "needs" it. She "liberates" my MKII.
Kool - as long as she stays interested in shooting, I'm good with that. Besides, I was able to replace the MKII with a S&W M17-4 6" - I'm good with that too.

Hhmmm....No never happened to me, but there was an occasion when I borrowed my spouse's .357 & stuffed it down the backside of my waistband when I noticed strangers on the property. Went next door to my stepson's home....Turned out to be nothing, just my my stepson's music therapist & his partner.--Patrice

Man, I REALLY gotta find a girl that's into shooting guns, that would be awesome. Now if she was into shooting guns AND Jeeps I'd be in heaven.

But here's one caveat: All of the above should be disregarded if you've got one of those rare examples of the female persuasion that loves to shoot and do the outdoor thing with you...treat her as if she's a jewel of great value, (and she is), and a boon to all freedom loving Americans....may her kind increase and multiply. Hell, buy her a new gun and celebrate when she allows you to use it.

sometimes the double his n hers works well other times not..
she prefers the used guns to new, well she has good taste..

I had moms hi standard supermatic that i let her shoot with...took me a couple of years to find another hamden one to give her to get it back..

I let her shoot my tuned cz 85 single action combat...
I had to find a 2 tone 85 combat and put a single action trigger in it to get it back..

she has a kadet kit for the cz, and I celebrate when i get to use it,
i'm glad she enjoys it, its what made the last 29 years fun...
