Why were blued guns discontinued?

I definitely have "blued" fever. I love the look of a blue S&W! Blue steel & walnut! I am looking for a Model 29-2

I keep screaming for BLUE STEEL & WALNUT (and a HAMMER-mounted firing pin......and pinned and recessed....) but the S&W beancounters won't listen. So I've been pacifying myself with four and five-screw and no-dash models.......Their loss but I'm happy.
