Why is it that the 1911 is so much popular as a platform than the Hi Power?

Cuzz gun games are mostly an American thing, and the people involved and the power factor silliness insured a 45 ACP bias over the 9mm, so a bias twd the 1911 over the HP followed.

Had those peole liked/and or been issued a 9mm, the HP and/or CZ75 would have been "The One" and been tinkered with all these yrs to the same extent. Would be as popular here as they are in the rest of the world (more HPs/CZs in military and police service than 1911s).

Only have one ? of the 1911:

When are they gonna stop trying to fix it?

Seems that (for almost 100 years) no one is satisfied as shipped, & the more you try to make'em better, the more hell-bent you become.

The Perfect Pistol

My definition of the perfect pistol would be one with the outward dimensions and appearance of the High Power but completely gutted frame and the trigger system replaced with one identical to the 1911. The main reason I carry the 1911 now is the phenominal trigger you can obtain with its trigger design. The funky trigger mechanism of the HP means that you will always have a long reset and probably some sensation of creep. I worked long and hard on my HPs trigger and it is pretty crisp now but the slide to frame fit is not the tightest and this lends a perception of creep to the pull even though it technically isn't creep. My main gripe is the trigger reset though. What is it, like 1/2"?

NOT A CALIBER THING

The 1911 PLATFORM is better for more shooters.

Have Witnesses, but still perform better using 1911.

with a few foreign exceptions no 22 unit for the P35

USGI parts and mags are cheaper for the 1911, the grip safety allow you to fit a ducktailed version, the 1911 offers the choice of flat or arched housing, short or long trigger. Until the mid 80's, .45 brass was cheaper than 9mm brass, and the .45 shoots lead slugs better than the 9 does. Until 9 surplus got so cheap, it was cheaper to shoot cast slugs in the .45. Some ranges object to jacketed ammo. the P35's grip is fine but the bulge isnt. Until the 80's, the P35's tiny safety precluded speed in its use, altho any smith could fix that, and the 1911's issue safety wasnt great, either. the .45 was required for some of our BE matches, and smiths have been accurizing the 1911 for decades longer than they have done so for the P35. The easily replaced barrel bushing of the 1911 lets the gun be made VERY accurate with very little work. All 6 of the series 70 guns that I machinerested (collet bushings) grouped 5" or better at 50m, with match ammo. There STILL isnt any match ammo for the 9mm, and wildcat load experimenters can do more with the 1911 and its longer "stroke" , longer case capacity. The alloy compacts are a lot more easily carried. The better trigger has no meaning except for matches, ditto the sights, accuracy, etc, but matches ARE a big deal in the US and MANY guys like to have match guns, even if they dont compete, and many who do compete could shoot just as poorly with the P35 as they do with a 1911! :-)

No, no, no....

The serious question is why the Beretta 92 faces so much derision amongst otherwise serious shooters.

From a tactical, statistical reliablitly standpoint, there doesnt seem to be an issue.
However, there are a fair number of posters who denigrate the 92. Why is this? It has an astoudingly good history. It is the American Standard Military sidearm. From the viewpoint of (it seems to me in my MHO) most owners of the piece, its the cat's pajamas. Why should there be such dissention other than political otherwise? Well, other than the non-proven, hypothetical Slide-Breaking-And-Piercing-The-Brains-Of-Unlucky-Shooters complaint, what is there? "The grip dont fit". "The sights aint good" This is civilian rants... not science...

Personally, from the standpoint of a computer nerd (like I am) I'd like to see the IP addresses of all the complainers. Are a bunch from the same company? Are a bunch from the same internet provider? Inquiring minds want to know. And references are great, provided they have a personal contact information so that the aforementioned inquireing minds can call them and verify the physics involved...

I just dont like to badmouth anything without evidence. Unlike some 92 enemies.

I'M GAME

The 92 isn't comfortable IN MY HAND; the 1911 is (even though I don't really 'care' for it, I still perform better with it).
Go figure.

I denigrate virtually no high-quality handgun, because each and every one fits SOMEONE pefectly.
