165 grain DoubleTapAmmo (http://www.doubletapammo.com) Gold-dot after being fired into water filled milk jugs. Made it to the back of the 4th and was recovered as seen.

1.41" of expansion, 99% weight retention, for those of you who are interested in that sort of thing. :D

You're making it REALLY hard to resist buying that G29 I have been trying to justify!

This was fired from a stock Glock 20. Out of a G29 you'd probably see a little less expansion, and some more penetration. The G29's are great depending on the size of your hand. Very manageable IMO. I sold a G29 and have regretted it since (I was funding something else).

Gotta LOVE the 10MM !!!!!

It's an amazingly under-rated cartridge. I really don't understand why more people aren't using it. (Well, I do, but I don't agree with them.)

That is a great pic. Can't believe it mushroomed like that.

I was expecting about an inch, maybe an inch and a quarter. I knew it had expanded a lot though when I fired it. I was 15' away and the first 3 milk jugs literally exploded, as in they weren't in one piece any more, the first jug was in about four. Usually with other cartridges the first one splits and the others just have entrance and exits. I got hit with a lot more water than I expected (which was kind of funny).

In reality you'd probably see less expansion, but I still think it would be significant.

It's hard to argue with a 165g projectile traveling at 1400+ FPS.

I agree that in the real world, it would expand less, but still, I'm very impressed with the way it flowered.

Curious what it would do if it had gone through a couple layers of clothing.

Fill a couple of milk jugs with jello. You have to use a bit less water than it calls for so that the consistency is close (er) to ballistics gel. Then, just put a couple shirts on the jugs and fire away.

That should be fairly, somewhat, a little bit representative of a somewhat close to reasonably accurate reality test.;)

Does this mean we get to have 9mm vs. 10mm debates now?

On a serious note, wow. I had no idea that the 10mm was that potent. Whats the recoil on that thing? It's gotta be up there with the .357 mag.

Just, wow.

About like a .45 or .45 +P actually. A lot less than a .357 mag in my opinion. That semi-auto action sure helps, and Glocks shoot pretty soft IMO. It is an attention getter however as far as sound goes.

impressive none the less, but I believe in a gel and denim test it'll expand around .7-.75 of an inch. Not the 1.5 inch seen in the pic.

The guy that manufactures them has supposedly tested them per FBI standards and gotten 1.02"

For what that's worth.

All of these tests were done using 10% ballistic gelatin provided by
Vyse gelatin using all FBI protocols and 4 layers of denim and two layers
of light cotton T-shirt in front of the gelatin.

That's down right orgasmic. I just put the LWD 6" barrel in the 20. If it does that in the stock barrel, woah nellie. Can't hardly wait to try it.

The 10mm is dying a slow death. With hot 40s who needs it. orchidhunter

A "hot .40" is NOT in the same power class as a " hot 10MM ";)

Think of it as .38Spl and .357Mag ------ with a "hot .38 " who would need a .357Mag :D
