Why I Hate You All (OR - you're just a bunch of lucky b******s)

Oh boy! All this knife-twisting you're giving this poor guy is making me cringe too!

To make a similar point, I had to laugh over an earlier thread, something along the lines of "have you ever discovered something in your safe that you'd forgotton you had". That got me thinking what a bunch of lucky b******s you lot were too! Where I live, each firearm has to be applied for individually, with a specific (sporting) reason for owning each one. The chances of finding something you'd forgotten about (ohhh joy!) are nil!

I've got a (small) earth berm in my back yard but am usually too lazy to walk around the house and just shoot off the front porch into the wood pile instead.
Mike, add me to those offering you a place to stay and shoot if ever needed on another trip over here. You're welcome any time.

I was promised a Shortycicle and I want a Shortycicle!

Well, if a gentleman from across the pond happens to pass through St. Louis, I can drag him out to the St. Louis Benchrest Club, where he can shoot some of the world's most accurate rifles...

Mike,

Like everyone else here, I too will open an invitation to come shoot in the Great Lakes State!

I would like to point out to you that the kind of people you are finding on this thread are common place. You can go to most ranges, clubs, and organizations, and there will be plenty of people willing to share.

One example: I took my wife to an IDPA match I was shooting a few months back. While we were there, I will bet a dozen or more guys offered the guns & ammo to her so she could shoot the match as well. You can only tell these guys "no thank you" for so long. So by the end of the day (thanks to the fellas) my wife was shooting a match and now wants her own gun to shoot with. So she will get my S&W 686+ (because she picked it out) and that gives me an excuse to go buy a new 45 :)

We all share together, play together, and plan on standing together!

We will win. We have too![William B. Ruger Jr.]

Recently experienced seeing the pain you describe. Had a young Brit here on holiday; and he was dying to shoot. Grabbed a handful of pistols and rifles, stopped at a local store for ammo, and off to the desert we went. He was nearly speechless for the next couple of hours; except for the expected "oh my God"s. Even insisted on having photos of him shooting them all for bragging rights back home. Needless to say; he was ear to ear by the time he left. Kinda sore in the shoulder, too; shotgun and stuff. Left a strrong impression with me; I'm so proud! :)

Guys,

Seems like I'll have to hate you all a little less, what a great bunch. I know from experience that your offers of shooting trips are genuine, I too have experienced the generosity of American shooters when once faced with an embarassing magazine shortage for a regulation pin shoot at South Connellsville rod & gun club where I was a member until this year, I was swamped with offers of assistance and even ammunition. Okiegentleman, thanks for the offer of a place to shoot in Germany, but to be honest I like the way you do things in the US and if I was going overseas to shoot I'd pay that little extra and enjoy the wealth of shooting opportunities you enjoy there, but thankyou for the offer anyway. The wife has given me permission to fly over and visit a friend of mine in Basle, Switzerland next weekend, the one truly gun friendly country in Europe. Unfortunately he is a typically gun shy Englishman, he doesn't even allow his 3 boys to play with toy guns and gets a little nervous when I raise the subject of shooting, so the chances of a trip to a Swiss range seem remote. I've noted all your offers and home states and will definitely get in touch if my travels take me to your part of the world, I can always live in hope.

Your offers really do mean a lot, and I thank you all with a sincerity that is impossible to convey with the typed word. Believe me when I say that if there was any way, both time wise and financially that I could fly out to the States to shoot on a Friday night and return home on Monday morning in time for work, I'd do it, I really would.

This is Outpost England, signing out.

My very best

Mike H
